home schooling

Hello!

I have done a forum search and have not been able to find anything concrete on the matter of homeschooling. Is it legal in Switzerland? I gathered from some posts than you need teacher qualifications in order to do so? Can someone please point me in the right direction for how to figure this out 100%.

We are planning on relocating to Switzerland with my two step daughters aged 10 and 12. They have recently come to live with us full time and speak no language other than English. They are not solid at grade level for the US and we would like to home school them at least for a while in order to get them caught up and learning some German. Both my husband and I were home schooled as children, so we pretty well know the ropes of "how" to home school. We are just not sure of doing it in Switzerland.

Thank you!

Re: home schooling

Like practically everything else here in Switzerland, the rulings vary from canton to canton.
Some specificy that the parent who is teaching must hold a teacher qualification. Some don't.
An article about two years old about this.

Here's some newer Info on the Home Schooling.
And Homeschool World.

Jrspet types too fast for me. However, with jrspet's links and mine, you'll have enough reading matter for this evening.
