And the price is much better! | | | | | I had noticed those (Hauck Alpha) as well, and I think that is now what we'll look for. It is deeper at the base, plus has a small table-like restraint included which isn't plastic like the tripp trapp extra, and is much better value (about one third of the price).
Tripp Trapp measurements: Width: 46cm, Height: 78cm, Depth 49 cm
Hauck Alpha measurements: Width: 48cm, Height: 80cm, Depth 56 cm

We used the Svan highchairs for both of our kids. They loved them and are still using them as the chairs can be altered to fit the ages of the children ( 3 and 5 now ). |

| | | | | There are of course lots of different types of high chair, but the idea with the Tripp Trapp (and I presume the Hauck) is that the child sits at / uses the same table as the rest of the family.

The tray is very easily removable and the child safety bits still remain.

It is not a Hauck! It is a Herlag! It looks even more like the Stokke but look at the middle, it has a piece going straigth down to keep the weight balance in the middle. Pretty clever, doesn't take space and is very stable.
You have to fight big time with the chair to tip it over!
We don't use the tray so my daughter can eat at the table with us. We bought a nice cushion (very very comfortable) and she sits like a fancy comfy Queeny!

The beauty of the old fashioned tray design being that they are indeed no where near the table to tip themselves over ... sometimes the old ways are the best! | | | | | That's exactly what I did, too. The Ikea cheap chair was great, the tray removed sitting at the table or with the tray, lasted a long time. I actually just picked a cheap booster from Mothercare afterwards for my daughter to share a table with us, without needing any monstrously expensive highchair that looks so different than any chairs around the table. Nice, safe, compact and discreet. The Ikea chair and booster were 25fr all together. My daughter hated having a different thing than us, so it did fit the phase. Same table, same seating, same dishes, same food, sooner the better.
