Haut-Lac or Champittet? Feedback on either school in the Vaud area?

We are considering both Haut-Lac and Champittet for our 3 children (11, 9 and 6 yo) for Sept. 2011. They both seem to have some pros and cons that are apparent to me following an interview/tour of both schools. I am hoping to hear from some parents who have first hand knowledge of either school - either because they have kids there themselves or know of kids there. Negative feedback is just as important as positive feedback! Thanks so much!

Thanks for doing that search for me. I had actually already looked at the older threads. They didn't seem that up-to-date to me, since it has been a bit more time since the transition of Champittet, so perhaps things have settled down and are more situated. Also, it seemed that most posts were directed more towards the Nyon location, and we are only considering the Pully location. And I don't feel like there has been much discussion at all regarding Haut-Lac. Just hoping to get some current feedback!

Good luck, I am sure somebody will pop in and say...
It is hard, though, you will always have people who love it, who dislike it, people who get it paid by job, people who dish out cash for this so they want to get prime quality...The best is go by gut feeling. My gut feeling and our walet has sent us to a local schools (where the gripes are similar), but everyone's needs are different.

Re: Haut-Lac or Champittet? Feedback on either school in the Vaud area?

Not sure if can add much to what I said previously in some other threads, and mostly from the view of the Nyon campus but still some things hold for the whole of Champittet which would include Pully. Be aware that they were bought out by some English holding company about a year ago and as such have links with some other 'international' type schools around the globe, some consider this a positive move, ie. part of a bigger family with more on offer, while others see it as getting away from the core of the school, ie. traditional swiss private school. In the past few years they have included 'english' and call it a bi-lingual school, but when you really get all the details it is still very french oriented with some english, not what I would call bi-lingual anyhow. I think the biggest issue though for anyone looking at schools though is what curriculm do you want for your children and what final diploma will they get/ or lead to, or if moving back home after x years, what will transfer etc. As I understand they have recently moved towards the IB, but it is still not really the full IB programme for all years I believe, and they offer the traditional paths of Swiss matura and I think French bacc. If you want one of these degrees fine, but if not, it definitely warrents some more examination. In my view they want to be more of an international school, but haven't really made up their minds or moved in that direction 100% yet. There are a lot of gripes about constantly rising prices and paying for everything, something leaving a bad taste in some mouths. Be aware there are school uniform obligations (also costs here) and in Pully there is a boarding school part of the school as well. A number have also commented on the learing style which they characterised more as 'memorisation' and not really learning or applying oneself to think and learn for oneself.

Re: Haut-Lac or Champittet? Feedback on either school in the Vaud area?

Hi! My family will also be moving to the area and I will have two children starting school in September 2011. We are considering Haut-Lac as well as ISM... Unfortunately we will not be able to visit/tour either school before we have to commit so I was curious what school you decided to go with... Any suggestions?

Thanks!
