My youngest started at 3 but 4 is more the norm if you can find a class that caters for kids.

It's almost universal that the cheapest(price) thing you can do everwhere is judo.

So.. there... get him into judo.

The price I pay for the lessons is just under CHF900 for a years subscription. For that price he can go to all the classes he is eligible for by age or grade.

Re: Martial arts for kids

thats fairly good for switzerland ....i charged £3.50 per lesson of 90 mins twice a week. that equals £336 per year at 48 weeks ....

i was so underpriced , but with any profit after renting i bought mats and bags etc for the kids to train on ........it was my Hobby .

Re: Martial arts for kids

900 chf seems not bad for one year if that is ,now I have to find a place. I saw something in another thread about Affoltrn am Albis,Opfikon. Not to far - 18km. Will see what other replays might suggest

My son has been going to this Karate school in Unterengstringen. Started at age 6, he now has a blue belt. It has the reputation as the best Dojo in Kanton Zurich, we are very happy with it

Re: Martial arts for kids

Do you practice any art yourself? Why do you want your child to learn?

There are such a range of arts it's a difficult question to answer unless you have an inkling of why your child should train.
