Hi, can someone out there maybe give me some advice/information.....

I am a South African. Had a relationship with an older Swiss man. I went back to South Africa and found out I was pregnant. He accepted this and gave me financial support in the beginning. Unfortunately the amounts were erratic and I never knew when I was going to get them. They also started to decrease as we were no longer in the relationship and I started seeing other people, I guess I was getting about SFr 1000.00 per year!

Then, when my son was about 3 or 4 he finally agreed to pay a regular amount or SFr 250.00 per month. It wasn't much but did help me to support my son. The problem with this is that it was 10 years ago that he agreed to this and things have changed since then.

What I need to find out is what, according to Swiss law, are his rights and obligations. What is the minimum that he should be paying?

Without trying to cause too much fuss, You could get a lot more through the courts. He knows this. Mention that you are going to seek legal advice on how much you can get, and will be adressing the issue of reasonable child maintenance through his local court. Then, smile , demand 700CHf per month (an awful lot of Randjies) and tell him he is getting off lightly and that you are doing him a favour.
