Summer Activity for Teens in Bern

Hi,

This summer my parents will send my 15 year old younger brother for a visit on his own. I'm very excited about this especially since because of our age difference I wasn't home for much of his childhood and really cherish our time together.

I will definitely take some time off to do fun things in the mountains with him, but for at least one week (Aug 8-12) I would like to find some lessons or activity program he could join to occupy him while I'm at work and so that he could meet some people. The original plan was an intensive German course because he was going to take German lessons at his high school in Canada, but they have canceled the German program at his school and he was forced to take Latin instead

Does anybody know of a rock-climbing or biking or hiking or other interesting lesson for teens that would be at least a few hours a day for one week? Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much for your advice!

This would actually be fun to do "WITH" a 15yo.

Pick a decent spot to finish up for a picnic or something, and take seperate transport back to a good bridge to jump off at the start.

Additionally,

Around the time he arrives, keep your eyes peeled in the "20 Minuten" or "Blick am Arbend" papers for upcoming events.

I know a quick trip to Zurich to attend the "Freestyle" event would be right up a 15yo boys alley. It has Motor-Cross, Skateboarding, and a giant Snowboard ramp (but that's in August sometime).

Thanks billhardie, the freestyle event sounds like a great idea to do with my brother, and we definitely will be swimming the Aare most afternoons to cool off!
