Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

A man's perspective is perhaps not so insightful, but a girlfriend of mine was treated to some serious professional measuring at Rigby & Peller in London and it made a wonderful difference. Although it can be done yourself, get it done right at least once and have a bra made especially for your charms. Everybody gains. Many women surprisingly never have it done, but will spend a fortune on hair and make up. Flaunt it!

I agree. Was expertly fitted at their Knightsbridge store and treated like a queen. Ex-hubby had a very nice time too looking around and was more than happy to cough up for the selection.

Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

Oh! Another thing also!

To me this is a big issue (if you pardon the pun) as we women tend to be a bit sensitive when it comes to how we are treated.

At Pfauen the clerk had very little time for me and they were not particularly busy.

At Nina's the assistant was very helpful, even though what they had wasn't to my taste.

I was very impressed by the assistant at Belladonna - she was helpful when we went in and even was interested in whatever we were gabbing about while we were looking around.

In addition to these, I was in one of the pajama / undies shops (has cotton / silk mens and women's pj's on display)... hmm... can't remember the name, starts with C? (Calida, I think) Anyhow, the assistant there wasn't able to provide anything for me directly BUT was quite helpful helping me figure out where I may have better luck. I mention them as they carry ladie's under things as well. (But am unsure whether they measure or not.)

EF is not a chat facility nor a sandpit. Please save oh so funny witticisms for appropriate threads, and if possible make them at least fresh. The OP asked nicely, then felt the need to respond when clearly unhappy with the quality of posts, yet many felt the pressing need to continue.

Stay on topic, please. Way too much noise.
I just saw the thread now. Your post was 18, and you deleted 73 posts, or 80%..... EF Members are apparently boob obsessed and have a sense of dirty humor (Allright, I admit it. me too).

But until this thread, I did not know, such a service existed. Good luck OP.

Honestly: EF is not google either and one can quite easily find underwear in Basel outside of Manor (!): Here you are. Yes, I did not really help - a user showing that she is too lazy to google herself and getting angry about boob jokes on a Friday afternoon? Sorry, wrong forum.

I thought that of all Mods you are one who is not all fluffeh.

Ah, while suggesting Google may be a "helpful" reminder that it has it's uses, it's not so easy to sort out which lingerie shops / departments offer fitting or not.

Google is fine, but getting opinions from other women (and intelligent men) regarding a feminine subject can be so much more reassuring and gratifying.
So Treverus.. I do beg to differ

Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

Ho hum.... those shops are fine and dandy for ladies with smaller busts.

Depending on how a woman is made, it's worth finding bras that are both beautiful and functional. Many shops don't offer (to the best of my knowledge) anything more than a C cup, and if they do, it's difficult to find in small back sizes (width) with decent support that doesn't cut into the shoulders.

I find only Beldona and Perosa and Triumph offer all sizes, well made and pretty, but often quite expensive

You didn't understand the OPs question if you think she's being lazy. I thought you of all Users were smart enough to understand the difference between asking for lingerie shops and asking for experience with good fitters.

When you want to offer advice on moderating, perhaps do some self moderating before Mods have to do it on your behalf; it would save everyone's time .

Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

I do find underwear sizing and selection here perplexing. And obviously, if you're endowed, you need to go to a specialty store.

Bottoms can be quite generously sized - for example, both Hanro and Calida size "L" and underpants can fit at least a size 48 (US size 18) or more, but you're hard pressed to find anything larger than an 85 (US 38) or the occasional 90. And if you're bigger than a "C" pretty much forget it, as sky says. I guess there are lots of pear-shaped women, or women wearing really big underpants.

I've seen some triumph bras in the globus in Bern that were D cup, but they look like torpedo casings, and are cut so high in the front center that it nearly comes up to your neck.

I've not been to Belladona though... might have to check it out.

Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

Besides, even if a shop has bra fitting service, they are in most cases totally horrible. See examples:

http://www.which.co.uk/about-which/p...ting-services/

or this test here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...ng-fiasco.html

In the article, a 32E (uk size) woman was fitted with 36DD by La Senza and 36C/D my M&S - anybody who has had similar experiences can tell you that too big band and too small cup will not only look bad but also give you back problems. So even if the shop offers the service, it does not mean that they have any clue of what they are doing.

Re: Decent bra fitting service in Basel?

While I think google is useful, for us ladies that are a bit "bigger" or "bustier" it is always helpful to ask where we can find stuff for our size, since google will probably won't help you. AND! most importantly the fitting service is not something you will find by googling, neither will the quality of the service .
As I stated before, I liked how I was treated in Beladona and they had a decent (if not huge) selection of bigger sizes

This thread illustrates why it would perhaps be useful to have a 'woman only' section, so this sort of thing and typically female health problems can be discussed without derision, etc. ?

Oh this is so true. The size of the bust has nothing to do with weight, and I wish that the lingerie buyers who actually make the selection of what is going to be sold in their shops, in France and Switzerland, would understand that. It's impossible to find a small back width and a deeper cup here. Germany and the UK are good though.

No I don't agree, some gents bring valuable opinions too.
Consider a make-up thread, I find the genuine opinion of a man regarding how he views what he finds nice, or too much, or just enough, very insightful.
Consider a pregnancy thread, I find the sensitivity and concern expressed by men, interesting too.
Women have been taking care or men's health, well-being, clothing, emotions etc since always. It's really refreshing when a man takes interest and give a clear opinion about women's issues.
And it doesn't take anything away from either gender.

Perhaps all members can be expected to be responsible posters irrespective of gender? Perhaps.

I find it not ok that you delete my posts on the OP being lazy as "derailing the thread" and on the other hand join a discussion on a womens only area. This is clearly even further off topic.

I don't really want to drag out this debate BUT feel the need to explain my groan.

You (apparently) came to a thread, without any relevant information to pass along, merely (also apparently) to make adolescent comments, and now you want to complain about how you were moderated for those comments - in the thread no less?

IF you have actual helpful recommendations relevant to the topic, please share them. Meanwhile, it would be appreciated if you take your childish spat with UM to PMs or something.

A woman only section would contribute to a different experience.

All members should be responsible, but unfortunately are not.

This is really a question only a woman can relate to.

But I'm quite impressed by your answer as well
