I am wondering if you guys could list some of the good and moral movies for little kids from 4 years old upwards. Clean in the senses of no vulgar/curses language/violent used, moral..in the sense kids learn some manners. Thanks i am thinking of setting up a library for this.

Morality wise, I'll leave you to decide and interpret for your child.

Most Disney/Pixar cartoons fit the bill. As for learning manners , unless you mean "Mummy , may I please watch Shrek ? or "Daddy, can we please learn from Nemo ?" I have no idea what you mean. Most kids cartoon teach hope, and that bad tends not to prevail, these are Universal values , but manners are country specific, something that the Producers cannot do for they vary so widely.

When my eldest was four, he loved the Italian job (the original of course), which has a bit of a moral story - the crooks (probably) don't get the stolen gold. Hardly anyone gets killed either which is a plus.
He did however, go around for ages afterwards saying "You're only supposed to blow the bl00dy doors off!" so you may not want that one for your library.

Most Disney/Pixar cartoons fit the bill. | | | | | Personally, I have found there is a lot of very badnmannered language and behaviour in many Disney cartoons.
Are you especially looking for ones that are specifically on manners, or for good stories that incidently do not have rude mannered characters?
If the former:
I thoroughly recommend "THe Magical World of Margaret Mahy" - 5 animated stories using the text from some of Mahy's best picture books - includes "The Witch in The Cherry Tree" and "The Boy With Two Shadows."
Lynley Dodd's Hairy McLeary stories are also on dvd - again, some very enriched vocabulary, but all very nice and polite.
Both of those are suitable for children up to about 7-8.

Fantasia.
Classics like Bambi, " Wizard of Oz"
Don't all teach " good manners" exactly, but are a step up from spongebob.

All Disney films are horrifying in reality, but were constantly on at our house.
I prefer Sponge Bob- it was fun for me (what the heck were they on when they wrote it?) and Miss L-P understood something else. | The following 6 users would like to thank J.L-P for this useful post:

If you want manners and sickly sweet principals then there is Barney, the horribly coloured dinosaur. He has movies as well as series, should keep them entertained for hours. Unfortunately my son watched them over and over again, as they do. Drove me nuts!

We have done exactly what you are going to do. We have a library built up of mainly Pixar and Walt Disney movies. What you might also like to add is The Princess Bride.

Wouldn't call "Dora the Explorer " moral exactly, but she is very educational, as she teaches the children Spanish.
She enlists the help of the children watching and her friends-Boots and Diego to help save the day through Spanish and English, using the map in her backpack.
She says a Spanish word and then expects the child to respond. It's amusing if they don't as there is a long silent pause, before she says " muy bien". | The following 2 users would like to thank deutschmaad for this useful post:

Aladin, TinkerBell, Strawberry Shortcake, Cars, Toy's story, Monster Inc, Pocoyo are all working well on my toddler without any scary / traumatical scene.
Handy Manny, Garfield as well. She is crazy about that cat, every morning on the french channel!

It depends on the ages of your children/ gender and how sensitive they are. That hasn't been my experience with the films at all. They ( the children) were not scared after OZ ( 6-9 year olds)

For educational stuff Blues Clues is excellent as is Sesame street, but they are only half an hour TV programmes. I second Thomas the tank engine and Postman Pat's a winner too. The later both have quite strong moral undertones actually.
For films, as well as the ones recommended above (especially toy story) my kids really enjoyed flubber, cats and dogs, chitty chitty bang bang (the child snatcher's a bit scarey but he gets his come uppance in the end). A bit older and Nanny McPhee is great.
My twelve and Fourteen year olds still cackle along to sponge Bob occasionally - they loved it, in French (bob l'eponge-carre!)

How about these:
Dungeons and Dragons ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dungeons-Dra...0918763&sr=8-2)
Dogtanian
Mysterious cities of Gold
ok, ok. These are all cartoons which I watched when I was a kid (and also, last week if i remember correctly )
I think they're good for kids, because each episode is about 20 minutes long, which is long enough to keep a kid's attention, and they touch on stuff like truthfulness, bravery, doing the right thing, etc..

I agree with the reply mentioning Thomas the Tank engine. There's also Bob the Builder, Caillou, Letters from Felix, Pocoyo, Sesame Street, etc.

Here's the African centaur in Fantasia, cleaning the white centaur's boots. I'm going to take a pass on racist Disney to teach kids anything at all. I used to watch 18 rated films when I was four. OK, fine, Disney it is |

Some of the obsessive films we have gone thru (particularly the now 6 yo) are Dumbo, Ratatouille, Cars, Toy Story, Milo & Otis, Backyardigans, Caillou, A bug's life, The Leapster movies (ABC's, etc.). |

My girls liked the Barbie movies, the Nutcracker was a bit frightening though.
My husband or I would watch a movie before the kids could. What the movie industry deems appropriate for my child isn't necessarily what I'd choose.
