Vasectomy is a very simple 'minor' op - local aneathesia, taxi home, a couple of days off work - simples. I'm so sorry to hear about your nightmare, but it is indeed very very rare and you were so unfortunate- but much less likely than with a woman being sterilised. As I'd done all the pain and hard work producing out 2, OH just volunteered it was his turn when our youngest was about two. He didn't particularly relish the thought - but said 'fair is fair' and chemicals are not good for you and IUD's not always comfortable and can bring on very heavy periods, etc. I so respected him for that - it takes a real man.
You just can't 'replace children surely.
