They're really cute and so practical with nightly nappy changing. I will buy one for my next little one.

Thanks
If you are handy at sewing and/or on a budget, here is a link to a website that includes instructions on how you can make baby gowns out of old T-shirts.

That's great. Thanks so much.

I also wish to ad the item I really loved the most was the Wrapping onesie from Schiesser. The cotton is really so soft.

And these Kimonos. http://www.cocorostyle.com/shop

Unfortunately I don't know where to buy it here in Switzerland.

Re: 4 months pregnant: advice needed

Hii aout...
Some advice from my side dear...
  • Avoid greasy, fatty, and spicy foods.
  • Stay away from alcohol and caffeinated drinks (e.g., cola, tea, coffee); these may relax the valve between the stomach and the esophagus and exacerbate heartburn.
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of three large ones.
  • Drink plenty of water between meals to reduce stomach acid.
  • Don't eat just before you go to bed or lay down to rest.
  • Pile a few extra pillows on the bed to assist gravity in easing heartburn while you sleep

Re: 4 months pregnant: advice needed

Hi Moms-to-be,

Just checking in to see how everyone's been. I'm on my 37th week now and reading your posts about enjoying every bit of the pregnancy was a wake-up call since it's been so much tougher these last few wks where fatigue sets in so much. I've finally gotten to attend the classes in CHUV and found an english-speaking midwife for another extra class, signed-up for the creche/maman du jour...but have no word yet on whether I get a spot when I need to start work again

I'm finally 100% off work as well so if anyone wants to meet up in Lausanne, pls. just post here or send a message. This coming Monday 18 July, a few english speaking moms-to-be/ new moms will be meeting up in case you're interested in popping by for juice/tea/a snack and some company.

Cheers

Are you attending the Starbucks mornings in Lausanne? They happen every other Tuesday. I believe the details are on the Lausanne Mom blog. TI think there's also a BBQ this Thursday 14th for the same target group (mothers and mother-to-be).

And I'm starting up a Breastfeeding Support group in August. Google LLL Suisse Romande for the link.

Re: 4 months pregnant: advice needed

Hi Michelle,
Looking forward to a LLL meeting here in Lausanne! I've been hoping to attend one before I give birth, but did notice from the site that english ones are only at Nyon and Geneva (I guess until July ?).

Oh, and the meet-up this coming Monday/18 July isn't the standard morning one at Starbucks via lausannemom. This one is at 18:000pm, Location: La Couronne d'Or, Rue des Deux-Marchés 13, 1005 Lausanne...open invite from another forum.

Cheers

LLL Lausanne hopefully to kick off the second week of August! Here's the email that went out to the M&M2B group in order to gauge availability:

Hello mothers and fathers in Geneva & Vaud!

For those of you in the Lausanne area (between Morges & Pully specifically) and who have or are expecting babies, I am hoping to hold a Breastfeeding Peer-Group gathering sometime in July or early August as a "trial" to see if a group in Lausanne is in demand. Target group for the summer is mothers/mothers-to-be but fathers, friends, relatives are also invited to attend.

So as not to conflict with already-established peer-groups such as Starbucks bi-weekly Tuesdays, we're thinking of Tuesday Aug 9th or Thursday Aug 11th, 2011. Alternate dates can be proposed.

I will also be holding one or two breastfeeding groups at the 2011 Babyplanet exposition at Lausanne Beaulieu. Most likely late morning and again late afternoon on the Friday, 7 October 2011 and maybe again on the Sunday. Find the LLL stand where the location of the meeting will be identified (either in the breastfeeding area or one of the cafes or near a playzone). For the Babyplanet gatherings, a theme will be chosen that will hopefully be of interest to mothers, fathers and friends/relatives who might also be in attendance.

Re: 4 months pregnant: advice needed

Hiya
First of all congrats.

There is loads of info on the net, about your rights and entitlements, but my french was not great and didnt really understand them, even with google translate. I would recommend going to a centre, its really comforting and they are plenty of centres around, I went to one in Vevey and they gave me some great advice, hints about pregnancy and keeping healthy. they also dealt with or referred me to the right people with regards to your rights, entitlements, working, dealing with your employer, if you need to take sick leave from work. There is lots of english speaking midwives. Also if you have no family around its nice to talk with someone face to face.

Best advice I could give for your health

Sleep

Take iron (very important: I thought i was tired, but it ended up being anemic during the pregnancy and needed supplementary iron)

Folic acid is needed for the neurological development of the baby.
Omega 3, 6 and 9 (fish oils) enhances your own concentration and mental process but is very good for the developing fetus.

Don't overdo it at work to keep your employer happy. its not just you your to worry about if the little baby to. So dont over do it.

Do some light exercise during the week, taking a walk, swimming is great and its weightless. (if your active before the pregnancy you can keep this up until about 6months: i was running before and stayed doing jogging ) They say keeping active during the pregnancy helps you to have an easy labour. But don't start up jogging if you haven't before. I stayed active and had a very very quick labor.

stay away from cats

Not to eat = Anything Unpasteurized(milk(uht is Ok), soft cheese, mayonnaise) no shell fish, they say no nuts at all but opinions varies (dont eat whole nuts such as peanuts), avoid anthing with raw eggs (some mayonnaise)

Find a Gyno
There is alot of blood tests and scans, but you are very lucky to be in switzerland, in my home country you get two scans, one at the 16weeks and on about 38 weeks. Its nice here in swiss as you get to see the different stages of the development and the gyno I was at had a top of the range equipment the scans were practically 3D (like most gyno in swiss). Its really something special.

Re: 4 months pregnant: advice needed

ohh as for clothing for the new arrival.. i would recommend baby sleep suits or baby gros that can wrap around the babys hand like a mitten. I found and most parents do, that mittens never stay on long and you spend half the days putting them pack on and you still wake up to see nail scratch marks all over your new babies face, it breaks your heart. Sleep suits with mitten like sleeves worked like a charm.
