Glaris is the new Glasgow?

In our local rag this morning, stats about life expectancy in CH. Apparently Zug is the best place for a long life, and Glaris the worst. They are not sure why, but think it has something to do with the local diet, drinking and smoking habits, leading to a high rate of cardio-vascular problems.
So watch out DB and MN- take it easy.

Unfortunately for me the Jura has the highest incidence of cancer, probably due to large amounts of Radon!

I understand the average beer and cheese consumption has risen recently.

Zug is full of rich people, including lots of well educated foreigners from the anglosphere and Russia.

Glarus is full of honest proletarian stock, including quite a lot of low-income foreigners from the south and east.

I could work at a university, I could...

Didn't you know that "poor and sick" is the new "rich and healthy"... another awesome BBC production - one has to love Hans Roslings accent.

Re: Glaris is the new Glasgow?

The poor + bad health/lifestyle choices has long been proven. However I live in the Jura- not a wealthy lot around here, a huge percentage of budget goes to support people on Social Benefits up here. So it shouldn't be different healthwise to Glaris. It would be really interesting to find out more about WHY? Zug town might be well-endowed with very well-off hedgefund managers and the like - but the Kanton at large perhaps not.

They've probably imported some of Glasgow's gourmet cuisine:
