Whose talking about verifiable evidence? I was thinking more in terms of proving/disproving for one's own satisfaction/interest!
Patient "I saw a cat today"
Scientists "You can't prove you did, therefore this cat does not exist"
Patient "But I stroked it and it was purring"
Scientists "Lions purr, it could have been a Lion"

Patient "I took an remedy yesterday and am now better"
Scientist "You would have got better anyway, the remedy did not make you better. We have tested this remedy and it does not work"
Patient. "It has always worked for me"
Scientist "Rubbish, you must still be sick or were never ill in the first place"

Indeed.

Whenever I have a really bad cold, I drink three bottles of Scotch, and when I wake up, I don't have a cold anymore.

Damn, that Scotch is good at curing colds!

But it's a standard fogging technique, here and elsewhere, used time and again by pro-homeopaths to divert the discussion away from "homeopathic treatments" to "natural treatments" and challenge people on the herbal thing, conveniently getting away from the harsh reality that homeopathy is pure snake-oil.

Without the snake.

And also without the oil.

.
I rest my case One couldn't ask for a better couple of examples of classic homepathetic non sequuntur:

Yes something with Calendula, the stuff is great...
I suspect that the cream you purchased is not a homeopathic dilution though (30C etc...). I asked once a homeopath why calendula cream is labeled as homeopathic when it is not diluted like a homeopathic remedy. Apparently some homeopaths recognized the healing properties of regular calendula in non diluted form and promoted it and they call it homeopathic for marketing reasons.

I think cheetahs are the only big cats that purr.

Correct. Calendula and Hypericum are herbal. (Hypercal etc)

They do exist as remedies in 30c etc and share the healing properties in the Materia Medica. This is somewhat of a contradiction.

You almost had me there... Had to Google it.

http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasc...0/zoo00113.htm and
http://www.fortworthzoo.org/conserve/survival.html states that big cats can purr loudly, when exhaling.
http://madsci.wustl.edu/posts/archiv...9116.Zo.r.html states that leopards make deep, purring sounds.
http://www.msah.com/bulletin70/ states that lions and cheetahs purr.
http://www.lionresearch.org/FAQ/FAQS.html states that lions purr occasionally as they exhale.

Your Emminence, don't you think a Scotch of which you survive three bottles without an extended stay on intensive care cannot a real Scotch?

As I said, they don't purr (like cats). They may make a purr-like sound when breathing out but then I can also make a purr-like sound, as can my kids.

Oh, it's proper Scotch, don't you worry about that

The Irn-Bru removes the need for hospitalisation (it's made from girders, and since being hit on the head with a girder gives one a headache, it's actually a homeopathic cure in itself )

Pity. You missed a perfect opportunity to test for yourself whether it was effective or not.
Some of us would rather trust medecine that has been already been tested by qualified professionals. Before we've paid for it. It's a crazy way to live life, I know.

Some of us would rather give a first try to a safe gentle remedy tested by millions before opting for an allopathic medicine that for sure has side effects and only attempts to cure the symptoms rather than the cause.

That's where Western medicine falls down. It tries to make you feel better or mask symptoms rather than cure you.
