Are you sure..? I had an operation a few years back at Triemli Spital Zurich and while they were drawing blood to do some tests I assumed they would also test it for HIV-AIDS for their information but I was surprised when they said no. I told them since they had me tapped they might as well draw a bit more for the test.
Clearly it varies from place to place. I had blood taken for testing in Lausanne (CHUV) about 6 years ago. When I got the results back HIV was listed negative. My Swiss employer was outraged they'd tested without asking me.

Anyway, was useful as a couple of weeks later I embarked on a new relationship so could swap papers with him

My wife, aged 76, had to undergo tests related to Poly-Neuropathy and the
Lab. has sent a report at a cost of Chf. 1521.00 including HIV (negative).
I wondered if this was necessary or is this a "racket" between GP and Labs.?
The Insurers promptly settled the amount. Just inquisitive.
That's just them being thorough.

If a person with suffering from Poly-Neuropathy had not been tested for AIDS and it was subsequently found that AIDS was indeed the cause then that would have thrown up accusations that the initial testing had not been thorough enough.

Swiss medical care is so good because they do thorough testing.

You actually swapped papers?

Did you show him your vaccine card too?
