Visit the doctor without paying in advance

Hello everyone!,

Well, I have a question that maybe you are able to answer.

I am a national from the European Union, having a working health insurance from my country, and a fully working European health insurance card. It has even been accepted by the health buro of Zürich.

So, the point is that in Lausanne and Geneva, I was able to go to the doctor without paying anything in advance, just with me insurance card.

Also know many other people in the same situation, even some of them got operations and stuff, and having the European helath card none of them had to pay in advance.

However, what is my surprise that in Zurich I wanted to visit a doctor in several places, and they asked me to pay in advance, giving me afterwards a ticket that, could be used to ask a refund to my insurance.

My question is,... do you know any doctor or hospital in Zürich where I can go with the European health card without having to pay in advance?

Thank you !!

Come on, aren't there any European citizens living in Zürich and going to the doctor with your European Health cards ?

Re: Visit the doctor without paying in advance

I am no expert here - but I understood that the EHIC card is only for emergency treatment for holiday makers. We were also told that we had 3 months to organise Swiss health Insurance, but had to back pay from day one of our arrival, as we were going to be resident here.

All the information is on the Health Thread sticky.
