| Claire's sells them here as well. HM are alright, it's not like 4yr olds are going to do some heavy duty ballet, anyways. I would skimp on leotard and invest into real pair of these, instead | |

Sorry, but those full point shoes are totally inappropriate for a 4 year old. Any reputable dance school will not put a child in those until 8-10 years old and after reaching a very good level of expertise. I don't even think they make them in the size to fit a 4 year old.
Instead, you need the flat slipper type shoes. What is most important is the size, make sure it fits appropriately and not too large or it will slip on the child's foot, and make sure the sole has good traction.
I really would not recommend spending 100-150 chf for a leotard for a 4-year old. First, they are just learning, second they will easily grow out of it next year, and third their interest in dancing may change abruptly. I have bought leotards from H&M for over 4 years and they are perfectly fine for a young child. My 1st daughters outgrown ones are still in perfect shape and ready to be handed down to my second daughter should she have an interest in dance. The H&M line of ballet shoes of the slipper type I have found perfectly adequete as well for a young dancer. My daughter's came from there for 4 years as well. Only now after reaching a higher level in dance have I had to go to a specialised dance store for the demi-point and full-point shoes.
