High bed for 2.5 year old?

Hi,

Anyone any experience with a very young child (2.5 years) in a high of the floor / "not quite a bunked bed" such as this :

The shop "officially" classes the bed for a child from 6yo, but I wonder if anyone has used them for anyone younger. This seems a little old to me.

My daughter is already sleeping on a sideless bed, but space is becoming an issue and this is our solution so far.

Thanks

Pat

Re: High bed for 2.5 year old?

We've got a higher one for our son which he moved in to when around 3ish. It had more "structure" at the top - have photo on iphone that I can show you when we next see each other if you are still interested.

He fell out once or twice, but not an issue - they are so floppy when they fall they rarely hurt themselves - we also put an old mattress to break the fall. Most of the crying is from shock rather than pain...

Re: High bed for 2.5 year old?

Ours has had a similar bed since he was three (the higher version with another bed underneath). The high sides work fine and we just drum into him he shouldn't stand/jump on the bed. The only incidents we've had is him bumping his head on the cross beam which is just head height for him (when standing on the floor) and slipping a bit on the ladder but he now knows not to climb the ladder in socks.

Re: High bed for 2.5 year old?

I would not do it personally. I waited until I could reasonably expect that they would follow the instructions 'no jumping' and 'no climbing'.

Our 8 year old sleeps in the Ikea 'Kura' bed, and our daughter got a high bed when she was over 5.
