Genealogy/Family Research

I would like to establish contact with a genealogist/family researcher in the area of Bassersdorf (Zurick?) for purposes of researching my seventh great-grandfather, Andreass Egolf/Egolff. Carl

Re: Genealogy/Family Research

What is it that you're trying to find specifically?

I assume he was Swiss, so you'll most likely end up talking to the official office - they usually keep excellent records.

I would start here: http://www.bassersdorf.ch/xml_1/inte...7/d54/f194.cfm

May not be the right office, I don't remember the exact name off hand; they could at least point you in the right direction though.

Thank you for the response! The only information we have for him was that he was married 14 Feb 1639 in "Bassersdorf Church" to Margaret Huseri with only one child listed. We would like the rest of his, his wife's statistics, and possibly additional children. A bonus would be his parents.

Of all the links provided, none seem to apply, as Records: Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death, etc.

You won't find the info online... you need to call them.

Re: Genealogy/Family Research

you could try a site like "myheritage" where people make their family trees, perhaps you could come across some information (and family members)

Go here for good background on Swiss genealogy: http://www.eye.ch/swissgen/kibu/zhkbinde.htm

Go here to find microfilm through Mormons and search yourself the church records: https://www.familysearch.org/ . They do have church records for Bassersdorf covering that timeframe. You will need to figure out how to navigate the sight as could not get a link direct to that page.

Go here to contact Kanton Zurich archives which probably holds the records you're looking for: http://www.staatsarchiv.zh.ch/intern...a/de/home.html Send them an e-mail and they will likely do the research for your for nominal fee. I did same with Kanton Glarus with only ages and approximate dates and got back 300 years of family history.

Having the names, date and location of the marriage should be possible to track down. Good luck!
