Marriage guidance counselling in English

Can anyone please suggest any marriage guidance counsellors that will work in English - preferably in Zurich/St.Gallen/Ostschweiz areas.

Thanks,

Simon

Try here.

No personal experience or recommendation - just a Google search. Good luck.

I'd like to reactivate this thread. Looking for a counsellor as close to Lucerne as possible whose costs are covered by basic health insurance. Any recommendations?

Re: Marriage guidance counselling in English

Usually la commune will have a cheaper service, look at their official web. In our area it is the social dept. and I think the fees are low. Then there are church services that might offer free counselling, I know they do here (protestant center, ..). There are also new therapists who look for clients and can offer the innitial block of sessions free of charge, foreign ones will speak English for sure. But couple's counselling is not covered here by the health insurance, unless you find a psychologist who works under the guidance of a psychiatrist and will be willing to oversee the treatment. Good luck and hope somebody will post some better info for you. Good of you to look for help.

Re: Marriage guidance counselling in English

Swiss National Insurance does not cover marriage counseling, but many international insurance companies do.

With my medical history supplementary insurance is a non-starter but my wife does have it. I will enquire, but does anyone know if she gets the referral from a doctor, should that suffice for the insurance company ?

Sounds like legal insurance maybe a better option.

It is not a medical problem, why should your health insurance pay ?

It's in the interest of the legal insurers - cheaper than divorce lawyers.

Re: Marriage guidance counselling in English

There are a few actually qualified ex-pat (English) marriage & couples counsellors in Switzerland who will understand your world.

A couple of notes:
- Swiss health insurance will not cover your sessions.
- 'coaches' are not qualified counsellors (unless they are dual qualified)

I believe in a free client choice so, rather than just promote myself, here's the Psychology Today website - where only verified qualified Counsellors are allowed to have a profile:
https://www.psychologytoday.com/en-c...pists/bs/basel

I wish you well in your search.
