Re: Type 2 diabetes in newly diagnosed 'can be reversed' - drastic 2 month diet.

Dr. Micahel Mosley, author of the 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet, was one of the panellists on The Wright Stuff yesterday or Wednesday. He made a compelling case for managing Type 2 diabetes through diet, but his new book is aimed at people who are at risk of developing it.

The show isn't on the Channel 5 website just yet, but if anyone is thinking about their risk level, I strongly urge you to check for the show in a few days time, or watch it on catch up.

His basic premise is, if you don't use diet to manage Type 2 diabetes, and go down the medication route, you become an insulin dependent diabetic, which has links to heart disease and dementia. He also predicts that soon in the UK, about 49% of the adult population over the age of 50 will be diagnosed with Type 2.

After you allegedly reverse diabetese what happens? You live forever?

Is it bad to enjoy life and die merry? Is it bad if I have a relationship with my pot belly and I like stroking it while eating tasty food and drinking lot of wine?

Hahaha! Not at all, and I wish more people thought that way.

I'm always reminded of the first time I visited the Austrian Tyrol and was told their mantra is "Eat, drink and be merry". At the time (back in 1988), they had one of the highest levels of obescity in Europe and also one of the highest life expectancies.

I'm medium risk of developing it because my mum was diagnosed at 65 and my brother at 52. Both of them managed it through diet, and my brother's been clear for a few years now.

Another alternative - gastric surgery.
