Bit of decorum people. If you feel annoyed by someone go scream into a pillow.

I am opening on request.

Should this turn again into a war zone or off loading therapy, it goes to limbo again.

Learn how to politely disagree, bitte, and don't take things personally. Diversity is what makes an exchange worthwhile.

Re: Searching for Medical Advice in the EF: Common sense

So I had some lower abdominal pain over the weekend. Since I am poor and can't afford to see a doctor in such a developed country, I downloaded an APP from The INTERNET (yes I can't afford the doctor but I can afford an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch that would allow the installation of an app).

The diagnosis was that I either have gas or colon cancer.

I have a 50% chance of defecating into a bag for the rest of my life it seems

Go see a doctor people

Why? There's nothing wrong with me. Should I go every few hours just to make sure? Actually, I shouldn't ask you. I'll ask my doctor.

Re: Searching for Medical Advice in the EF: Common sense

So I tried it.

I went on internet and made a research on the symptoms I had last week.

I was very sick with high fever (40 degrees) for 3-4 days, followed by intense migraines for few days. I had pain in my spinal too.

Internet results: Meningitis

Doctor's results: Throat infection.

Doctor 1 : 0 Internet

Antibiotics later: Feeling Top Shape!

Your antibiotics would have effectively fought bacteriological meningitis too and made you feel in top shape. Maybe the internet was right and your doctor was wrong?

The problem with doctors is that the level of care varies. You can get good doctors who are super thorough and do a lot of tests and send things away to the lab and get real results. Others just give you 5 minutes and made a best-guess and write a prescription and send you on your way. Also some doctors, especially older ones, don't keep up to date with the latest journals etc so if you combine the two you're getting pretty useless treatment a lot of the time. Also, no such thing as altruism - doctors get paid for their time so I'm sure they'd like you to visit all the time and discard the internet and any other source.
