I went through my preggo check ups with hb and male doc discussing my internal organs and travelling in a very animated way, without me understanding a word, since it was all in French, that was lovely. Maybe better than understanding them |

| | Re: Pregnancy test accurancy??? | Quote: | | | | | Well, how about another test, not chemical. How does your wife feel? there are other symptoms to being pregnant - sore boobs is a common one.
I knew I was pregnant, did a test, it came up negative, my husband tried to tell me not to be sad, but I could really feel I was pregnant. Sure enough I was - with twins! Actually at that stage it was triplets (but I lost one early on). So sometimes you can know before the test can predict it.
Good luck! | | | | | I found out that I was pregnant the second time by touching the cervix. If the woman is pregnant, the cervix will be closed and hard.

I dont even know what a cervix is ????????
She does have a small bump just above her pubic area on her left hand side, we feel it when we press in just above the pubic bone, any doctors out there? is that a symptom? it has just appeared in the last few days.

The uterus (you know where the baby is nestling into as we speak with at the end the cervix ) is still the size of a small orange and not visible/feelable (is that a word) from the outside, usually at 10-12 weeks gestation the uterus is the size of a baseball and starts to become visible!
Well good luck, hopefully get some sleep and let us know tomorrow morning!

Just wanted to add my fingers crossed for you both.
I was online discussing my womanly bits with complete strangers months before actually getting pregnant - a bit of boob talk is nothing - you wait till we get onto the "getting the thing out" topic in 9 months time!
But seriously though - a line is a line is a line and a positive is basically a positive and that's that. I'd be surprised if the blood test said any different. But whilst I wish you guys all the utmost luck and sticky-PG vibes in the world, the first few weeks do sadly often end in heartache even with the +ve right now. So, hang in there, hope it all works out.
Edited to add: I just read that back and it sounded a bit heartless - sorry about that - I know how exciting it is and I hope it's all great news for you.

Test sensitivity varies widely in HPTs. I've seen 10mIU and 100mIU. That would make a huge difference, as hcg generally doubles every ~48 hours. Meaning, one test could be + many days before a less sensitive one. Also, digitals are often less sensitive than the most sensitive line HPTs, or so I've heard.
Here's a chart comparing the sensitivity of HPTs (sadly, mostly brands in the US): http://www.peeonastick.com/hpts.html
The only line tests I would avoid are blue dye tests (as opposed to pink dye ones). They have a reputation on trying-to-conceive message boards as sometimes producing false positives.
Regarding the high price of tests here, this site has them significantly cheaper than anything I've seen in stores: http://shewishes.ch/
Though you need to buy more than one. I like the dip tests because they are cheap (5 for 6CHF). I actually bought them in the 10 pack, I think. And ovulation tests in numbers of 20 or 30. Still cost less than one test at the store.

| | Re: Pregnancy test accurancy??? | Quote: | | | | | Uhm, yeah. I did. Since the tests are accurate and 2fr each. And you should see the cashier's look on her face, looking at the pile in the basket...she couldn't hold it in and "what are you guys planning to do" followed ...doh. | | | | | I stocked up in Singapore airport on our way back from Oz. Ovulation test kits were around CHF 1 and tests around CHF 1.50. The lady at the counter mentioned that she has seen many people that were traveling on to Europe stock up too |
