But still... I'd rather be 'shagging like rabbits' at the 'right' time of the month rather than 'all' month | The following 4 users would like to thank Nickers for this useful post:

. | | | | | you get one of those nowadays (bit expensive, but reusable as many times as necessary)- tells you low, high and peak fertility. really, considering that you can only get pregnant a few days every month, I think it's only reasonable to know when that is. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Clearblue-81...0561989&sr=8-1 | The following 2 users would like to thank ullainga for this useful post:

I ordered ovulation test strips and early pregnancy test strips from SME Fertility in the UK. Don't know if they ship here but worth a try. £6 for 20 strips.
Preg test sensitivity is 10mlU/ml but I still got negative result 1-2 days before my period was due, only positive after.

but.... the blue and pink preg tests picked up the slightest change in hormones.

Again, the cervix IS your friend ladies,
By learning how the cervix change during your cycle, you can find out when you are ovulating and if you have conceived.
Best of luck OP, I always thought that at the moment the stick has a line, even a very teeny tiny one, it is because it's detect the hormone. And the only time the hormone is there, is when the ovule had been conceived.

Ok question to all ladies of the forum. Or guys if they know. Lets say your period is late. How many days after you expect it should you have a test?

Them hormones are like, turbo-charged, or something.

How many days after you expect it should you have a test? | | | | | As mentioned earlier, it depends partly on the sensitivity of the test. Some are intended to be used as soon as you miss a period or even earlier but they all test for the hormone HCG which increases at exponential rates in your body in the early days of pregnancy so the longer you leave it the more reliable the test result will be - and the darker/faster appearing the line on the stick will be if positive.

assuming you have a regular cycle, the pregnancy test strips would be reliable 1 week after your period is due...
Assuming you have a 'textbook' situation, conception occurs around 10-14 days before the period is due...so by the time you test it's been about 3 weeks...plenty of time for implantation and hormones to get going.
That said, I've been pregnant 4 times and I can tell within 48 hours...blood volume increases, need to go to the bathroom 10 times a day...very obvious....

The best result for a preg. test is on the day you expect your period. Here is another idea for the OP. Get a period app for the Mrs.' phone. It will tell you when you are ovulating. I took a o.test this month and it was correct with the app! Much easier then charting yourself Also, shagging like rabbits wont hurt. Once you know when you are ovulating, it is pretty easy to see all the symptoms and know in the future.

First pregnancy: Positive blood test result - one week before period.
Second pregnancy: Positive stick result - 4 days before period.

| | Re: Pregnancy test accurancy??? | Quote: | | | | | Ok question to all ladies of the forum. Or guys if they know. Lets say your period is late. How many days after you expect it should you have a test? | | | | | I depends so much on the test sensitivity. My tests were 10mIU, and I had a faint line at 10dpo (days past ovulation). That's 4 days before my period was due, assuming a 14-day luteal phase (mine were 13-14 days). It also, of course, depends on when implantation occurs, which can vary by many days.
Regarding cervix checks, it's not such a big deal, though it's maybe not for squeamish people. A great time to check is after a shower when your hands are clean. Otherwise, it's a really good idea to wash your hands thoroughly before poking around up there. I guess that's kind of obvious, but you never know.
To the OP, did you get a yes/no or beta hCG (with a number of how much hCG was found: 2, 30, 400, etc.)? And I know it's hard to go through this cycle after cycle. We tried for over a year for our second and found out I was pregnant just a week before our first appointment with a fertility specialist would have been. Good luck!
