Hi,my friend and I have decided after many months of excuses we that we are determined to lose some extra kilos, and wondered if there were any other women in Basel wanting to join us weekly,it will be a soiciable and friendly environment for a weigh in and a cuppa if need be, maybe you have an event to look forward to in the next 3,6,12 months .We live on the outskirts of Basel but we do have availability for a free meeting place in central Basel,so if you are like us and need friendly support please send me a pm as we will begin August. | This user would like to thank sandra07 for this useful post: | |

I have been thinking exactly the same thing! While breast feeding my girl I put on 7kg or so... Those Löffel / Tiramisu biscuits and milk were just too irresistable! .
I've lost 4kg or so of that but I'd like to lose the other 3 + 6 more. (I was a bit overweight before getting preggers.
Problem is I'm not in Basel, so couldn't join you
Could we keep a tally online as well for the non-Baselers? If no-one wants to disclose their 'figures' we could just say how much we want to lose, what activities we're doing, and what healthy eating tips we're following to get the results we want...
What say ya'll?
I'll start:
I'd like to lose 9-10kg to put me in the middle upper range of the healthy weight for my height. I'd also be happy with 10cm off my butt etc. if I gain muscle. (Super skinny isn't my thing)
This week I've started cycling twice a week for about 12km (35mins) a day incl. 50-100m altitude climb. At the weekend we go out every other weekend for a 600-1000meter climb up (2.3hrs) and back down (1.5-2.5hrs) a mountain.
I've been trying to avoid extra sugary/fatty snacks in favour of fruit. Ideally I'm trying to avoid between meal snacks completely. Not always successful though .
Looking forward to joining forces and burning some calories!!
Puddy

I'm in!! I've gone up a size since I've moved here. The food is sooo good! And I've been exercising more than I ever have and I think I've considered that a license to eat whatever I want. I need to nip this in the bud before I get back to where I was a few years ago - and I don't want that to happen. I'm in Kleinbasel but will meet up anywhere I can get to by public transport - or people can come round here too. I can bring my bollywood workout DVD's. |

I'd be in too, depending on what's of interest. Need to lose some kilos , need to occupy my time, , new friends / new involvements with existing friends is always a plus!
Some friends in the US use some "sparkpeople" or sparklepeople or something thingie to track what they're doing in similar effort, although many of them are in different parts of the country. I'll ask them more about what it is (unless one of ya'll have heard of it / know about it already?) so we can see how well it will work for our purposes.
Edit:
It is "SparkPeople" and the link is here: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness.asp
I believe my friends set up a group so they could share their progress with each other, help encourage each other n such, even though they're not in immediate proximity to each other. Maybe using something like this will help include Puddycat with our efforts?

So, if I'm guessing I could assume this is a woman's thing right? No men welcome, or would I be wrong to assume that (or should the OP state in her first post it is a woman's event)?

I would love to be part of it from Far Far Away! Maybe having a thread like this where we can talk about our goals, efforts and success (or not).
My goal is to lose 10 kilos. To go back to my pre-pre-pregnancy shape. Which was my healthiest size. It will put me on the lower side of my BMI but makes me feels good, more energetic and less tired.
I am walking a lot everyday and I'll start a program with a personal trainer in September. I would be able to share some tips if some want them.
My biggest enemy is my water retention. That kills all the hope and view of any results at all... |

Hi everyone ,I didnt think there was so many of us out there wanting to meet up and support each other, the initial idea is that we have a weekly weigh but it might be nice to meet someone who maybe available for some exercise also .The venue and time has not yet been agreed as my friend is now on holiday but like everything the time is not always going to be suitable for everyone .We thought end August after the kids are back to school, but if anyone is willing to set it up a little earlier than it sounds like some people are ready. Friday afternoon,or Thursday night maybe the times we were looking at.
If anyone is available for a coffee and chat next week I can meet at 6.pm Tuesday ,Wednesday or Thursday in Basel.

I'd like to swap tips, recipes, recommendations on books/dvd's etc.. and would be up for meeting during the daytime for chats, walks, workouts. (sounds like a personal ad ).
I am a member of Factor-Sport Gym in Kleinbasel. If anyone else belongs we could go together. I want to try their 12:30 Zumba class this wednesday.
