Should we meet up once a week (regardless of weather) and do one of them Vitaparcours (www.vitaparcours.ch/d/html/) since they're scattered all over Switzerland, we could possibly travel to each other's destination or meetup at a central location. What do you guys think?
I think its a great idea. Don`t want to appear lame, but I can`t commit to it but for others that can, its better motivation than trying to do it on your own.

Definitely, as long as it don't turn into the "men-love-fest-in-the-woods" I'm up for it. Would next weekend be good for you?
If you start going on like that then I prefer women to come along.

Problem I've got is dodgy ankles and need to see a doc but haven't had time, ironically I think I have problems with them from being overweight as I never was before, need to sort it out.

Ah yes, I understand...stress/depression makes you eat more junk (especially if you don't smoke/drink) and therefore, your joints have to carry more weight than they're used to and this causes strain. Many former athletes also suffer from the same problem. I played bball and my game weight was 87kg...right now I'm 94kg with less muscles as I don't have the necessary infrastructure available to keep training like I used to...and therefore, I also feel it in my knees. Swimming is definitely a good start as you won't put pressure on joints.

I was diagnosed recently with osteoarthritis in my right ankle (I'm only 40, for crying out loud) and I have found my rowing machine doesn't cause me any pain either during or after using it.

My doctor advised me to lose weight in order to ease the pressure on my ankle and, 16 kilos later, it hasn't made any difference whatsoever. Somedays, I still find walking difficult. Not the best medical complaint for a tour guide! AND to make matters worse, I've just broken my big toe on the other foot. I'm thinking of rebranding my ghost walk as a 'Ghost Limp'.

Sorry, got a bit lost.....what where we talking about, yes, ankles, now I remember. Try a rowing machine!

I'm 114kg at the moment (1.85m/6,3"ft tall) that's why my closest call me a fat **** because normally I am quite lean but 10-15kg makes a huge difference in my case. I think the ankle probs would go away if I lose more weight.

That's it, exactly what you say is the problem, people who don't smoke or (usually) drink seem to go for the meat as a comfort when under stress or a bit depressed.

Re: Want to lose some kilo's need daily macho support (MEN ONLY)?

I sell extremely effective weight-loss pills, they don't come cheap but they really work. For 1 chf a pop I can sell you 90 days worth of pills for (OK, lets round a bit) 100 chf. You need to take one pill a day which then needs to be activated by cycling uphill for 3 hours in hilly mountanous terrain on a non-electric bicycle (sold separately). Failure to activate the pills will result in not achieving the weight loss effect, no refunds !

Re: Want to lose some kilo's need daily macho support (MEN ONLY)?

Lots of good advice here.

Just remember, it takes a lot of time to get out of shape, and it takes time to get back into shape. Just remember, you can't measure your health/condition/fitness in kg.

  • The start is the hardest. Especially if you are increasing your activity, you will add muscle mass before losing fat, so you may actually gain weight/size for anywhere up to 1 month. You have to push through this.
  • Exercise is unavoidable. Aim to do regular 50min cardio sessions. Start off easy to avoid injury. After that, start to challenge your body with intervals or longer sessions. Let yourself get addicted to exercise.
  • Challenge your body. You will plateau at stages but work through this. Don't let your body get use to a certain exercise intensity.
  • Vary your activities, and make sure you enjoy them. Have at least 3. I have running, cycling and indoor climbing. The latter is more of a strength training regime, which stimulates metabolism and growth hormones. It helped me get through the 80kg barrier. By having a variety of activities, you avoid injury and train smarter.
  • Don't just measure on scales. I stayed the same weight for 2 months but watched my clothing drop by at least 1 size when I started climbing. That was because I was trading fat for upper body muscle. Other measures are recovery time, endurance, and just general feeling of good health.

I'd just like to take this chance to publicly complain about the diet pills I bought from you recently. Not only do they look remarkably like Tic Tacs, they also taste minty fresh. I have reason to believe you have indeed sold me Tic Tacs and not some miracle cure for my expanding waist line. I wouldn't mind, but I personally prefer the orange flavour.

You are extremely lucky my man. Recently 3 months worth of birth control pills went missing from my house....

Re: Want to lose some kilo's need daily macho support (MEN ONLY)?

OP, have you thought about getting an electric bike ? When you start out cycling all the hills we have here may seem like a real problem. What if you collapse with fatigue on the wrong side and you have to drag yourself accross to get home ? This can demotivate you into not cycling. But with an electric bike you have a stick behind the door, when the going gets too tough you can switch on or increase the electric support. This lowers your anxiety about going out for a bike ride, no need to worry about getting home when you get tired. The weight loss won't be as much as on a normal bike but hey, maybe you'll cycle three times as much ! Best would be to, especially in summer, make the bicycle your main means transportation. Slowly over time when you feel your strength increasing you can lower the electric support. And before you know it you'll purchase a proper racing bike (no engine !) and the pink leotard that goes with it

Re: Want to lose some kilo's need daily macho support (MEN ONLY)?

i am overweight and i hate it, but do i hate it more than i like eating my wife's dishes? hell no!

it would have been a different story if i was single: no delicious dishes, and lots of pressure to find a lady (which means i needed to look fit). i drop pounds like nothing as soon as i start traveling and eating out.

so, i am happily married and overweight!
