We're moving to Geneva at the end of this year and have a 13 year old son and 5 year old Daughter, neither of whom speak French. Unfortunately the move won't allow us to be able to put them into International school so we've been looking at the French Private Schools as other options, can anyone recommend any that we could look at within 30 minutes drive of Geneva?

Wondering if you could clarify, not sure if you mean French-language private schools, or schools that teach the French national curriculum leading to French Bacc.? If you want French language schools, there is also the possibility of bi-lingual if that would help.

Anyhow, the sticky at the top on schools gives the associations of private schools in switzerland and the association of private schools in Geneva, you can search both of these sites by type of language school, and read more to determine which national curriculem them follow. Are you looking for primary or secondary?

Many many kids join normal state schools in Geneva without speaking any French, and with help and full immersion, learn extremely quickly and do very well. Socially it is also great as they make local friends they can meet and play with outside school, helping with integration and socialisation. Have you considered this? What are your concerns? It will of course be harder for the 13 year old and he is getting to a critical stage- I'd consider letting him join a class one year below (which we did with our daughter with great success) to allow him to catch up with he language + a foreign language (probably German) before starting the more difficult stage. Do you have any idea how long your stay in CH will be?

Was looking at French private schools for the bilingual aspect which we were hoping would help our 13 year old. Also cost of Swiss private / international fees were more than we could afford.
