More than likely you're lying...wouldn't be the first time. It's totally "out of character" for Swiss teachers to even suggest that...totally.

The mind-set here on EF is very, very limited and if someone writes something you don't comprehend then they are automatically "wrong."

comment would be superfluous

PJ - you are hilarious. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face after a long days work. You are right and of course the rest of us know nothing.

Good luck in your life.

Really? Been a few years now but when my children were in kindergarten the kindergarten teacher was adamant that the children should find the way alone. Because we live 1/2 hour walk away from the school, I used to accompany them until they asked me not to any more but found myself hiding round the corner out of sight of the teachers.
There's been 8 accidents in 6 months on the crossings near the school caused by drivers not stopping. It became a necessity.

None of the accidents were fatal and most were just dinks (although one girl was put in hospital after being knocked off her scooter) but it's only a matter of time.

I was also aware of "teachers having a word with parents about them walking their kiddie-winks to school" so was also surprised at the letter.

The safety of the road is currently been put on the agenda at the next Schulrat meeting.

On a percapita basis Switzerland has the highest amount of pedophiles in Europe. Thats according to the UN.....

http://www.20min.ch/news/ausland/story/24554809
That's not at all what the UN or this article is saying.

This study does only include clients of prostitutes aged 12-18 IN KENYA. If you think these figures reflect the rate of pedophiles then Switzerland has almost 10x the number of pedophiles as Germany. And this seems likely to you? Please.

Surely there are a lot more swiss visitors in the first place of which some engage in prostitution?

And sex with 18 years old prostitutes is not pedophilia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedophilia

Re: Letter from school warning parents about strangers

Yes I am very familiar with those warning letters from the school, which I received at least twice a year. We used to live just on the outskirts of Zurich. It seems to be a common problem in Switzerland. When ever we would receive the warning letter there would be lots of parents walking their kids to school. But that would only last for a week. The school had someone from the police over to train the children, never to walk towards a strangers car, accept sweets and so on. But kids have a very short memory. My issue with the public school has always been that they do not provide fencing or boundaries for children and the schools are just not organized for lunches. The facilities should be provided in house rather than having the children walk in different directions. I believe we all educate our children about the dangers in life but the schools are so accessible here that it just make it too easy for such offenders. The parents and the schools need to be more vigilant. We need to make the offenders think twice but I think Switzerland has a long way in improving their facilities. I know they are trying but my boys would have graduated by then. I actually go fed up with the local security and school system and put my kids in the private system. Unfortunately sometimes you need to pay for a peace of mind. Good Luck parents. Who said it was easy raising children in this world.

No you gave your anecdotes with your opinion. Are you expecting people to disprove that?

Loads of people wear black socks. Prove me wrong.
Well right now im wearing white socks therefore you are wrong!

The fact that most of the socks i have are black and im the only person in the house wearing white socks is totally irrelevant!

Sorry i just read all posts today and i couldnt resist
