Family Doctor in Zurich 8032

being new in zurich we need a new family doctor asap, possibly in the zürichberg/hirslanden area.
he/she doesn't have to speak english, we would be happy with hochdeutsch or halfway understandable schwyzerdütsch.

I would be really grateful for a personal recommendation, as we (coming from germany) have had no encounter with the CH health system yet.

also, until what age do you think kids need a paediatrician? do mine (13, 10) still need one, or would family doctors here cater to older children, too? in germany they sometimes do. although for certain prescriptions and specific conditions it has to be a paediatrician.

another big question: how do you look for specialists, apart from the official lists? we need regularly thyroid and asthma specialist care.
can the Fabulous Family Doctor that you can hopefully recommend in 8032 Zurich advise us?

any help will be greatly appreciated!

For an endocrinologist in Zürich, you might try:

But unless there is urgent need to be seen, I'd first search for your GP and then ask for a referral. While one can make an appointment directly, having a GP referral usually means you can get seen earlier. If there is urgent need for an appointment, perhaps your GP in Germany might refer you?

One thing that I worry about when seeing various specialists is that I feel sort of like I'm being treated piece-meal, that no one is considering interconnected conditions or concerns. IMHO - it is best to go through a GP, so that at least someone is looking at you as a whole person rather than as a collection of organs.

I'm afraid I can't help with a GP - I'm not in the ZH area.

thank you very much, she sounds good! have you or anyone you know tried her personally? I guess so, otherwise you wouldn't be recommending her.
it's very interesting to see that she has the sonography facilities inhouse - I used to have to go to the hospital for that...
I'll go on looking for a GP then.

Dr. Urs Müller or Dr. Harald Schütze

in 8008 Seefeld

(a lot of families I know in the 8032 area go there too)

See this thread.

10 posts (excl. "off-topic") and you'll be on your way.
