English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich

Hello,

Would anyone know a good English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich that you could recommend? My friend with the problem of blood in stools is asking around for a good specialist.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Dr. med. Martin Kaufmann is good. His receptionist speaks a little English, but he is fine with it. He's near Enge

I've also visited him a few times recently and had no problems with his or his receptionist's English or anything else for that matter. Can recommend.

Here to second the recommendation for Dr. Kaufmann. His bedside manner did seem slightly brusque. But he was able to diagnose and treat a problem I've had for years, so...bring on the brusque! Everyone is his office spoke excellent English, too.

- Definitely do not recommend Dr. Kuelling in Seefeld.

Highly suggest seeing a doctor from University Zurich.

Dr. Carl Oneta in Winterthur is great. I know it's not Zurich but it's close I think he's a good investigator.

Otherwise I've had good luck with the docs at the university hospital though I've never seen a GI there.

Re: English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich

Hi All,

I need to see a Gastro specialist in Zurich. However, I use Swisscare insurance plan. Do I need to pay right there and then for the treatment? How does the Swisscare work when seeing a specialist? I hope someone can help.

Best.

Re: English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich

Dr. Kuelling misdiagnosed me, and I have been to many gastroenterologists in Zurich who were mediocre at Bethanien and Hirslanden.

I'd highly suggest making a trip to Gastro Feldmeilen. http://www.gastropraxis-feldmeilen.ch/

They really are the best in figuring out what is going on with endoscopy and colonoscopy.

Re: English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich

Thanks all, I would really like to go to a gastroenterologist at the University Spital. Does anyone have a recommendation of a doctor there please?

I haven't had the best experience with doctors in Switzerland, so want to make sure I go to a good one.

Re: English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zurich

If you are looking for an English speaking Gastroenterologist in Zürich, I would definitely not recommend Dr. med. Martin Kaufmann in Enge.

I speak German but I wanted to speak with an English speaking doctor in order to be able to express myself with ease. So, I called the Praxis in German to make sure I will be able to speak in English and I was told there won't be any problem.

Once in front of the Doctor with my girlfriend, he just told me that will be the only time he will speak in English to me. That I have been in Switzerland for more than a year, therefore I should speak only German. Well, I went there because I have a condition which lasts for the past years and not to take an advice on which language I should speak. In the end, he took ten minutes to tell me that I have reflux...

To tell the truth, if my GF wasn't Swiss, I would have left this country for a long time already. I am fed up with this closed mentality and having to deal with racism on a daily basis.
