Health insurance cover when entering the country pregnant

Good day
We are moving to Switzerland in November.
I have recently discovered I am pregnant.
Will the National Health Insurance cover me if I enter the country already pregnant?

Re: Health insurance cover when entering the country pregnant

Welcome to the forum.

You will get the standard insurance cover for treatment and birth in the canton where you live. Get health insurance for the unborn baby at the same time when you register, it makes everything simpler: the premiums and cover start with the birth, and are very reasonable.

Being treated as a private patient, for a birth in another canton etc. are not possible.

Please read previous threads, there are lots!

Hi there, welcome and congrats!

There is no National Health cover here, everyone must have a basic mandatory cover which then extras can then be added to. Pregnancy is covered under the basic but you should look at this thread Health insurance suggestions for pregnancy? as well as searching some others.
