| | Semen analysis
Hi,
Does anyone know where in Zurich (kanton) can you do the semen analysis?
How much does it cost when you want to pay yourself?
What doctor should give the referral? (gyneacologyst, urologyst, other)
Is it possible to get the referral before a year of trying for a baby?
Thanks

If you can't find a Navy doctor, I would suggest that you start with your family doctor.
Book an appointment for a chat.
In my experience most referrals start this way - I've only gone direct to a specialist, once I've already seen them before on a previous occasion.

That's why I want to know how much it costs and is it possible here (I assume it is).

Whilst I can understand your husband's wish to avoid the costs, there is a counselling process that should go along with any sort of fertility treatment...and your local doctor should actually be able to give you all the info you want about the costs, what will/won't be covered, and options...

Is there a reason why he's not willing to wait a year ? Are there medical reasons why he might have fertility issues ? Have you seen someone who understands fertility (there are lots of myths out there) ? Are you in a hurry ? How old are you ?
You are only fertile for maybe 3-4 days maximum, per month (assuming that menstruation is regular). So that means only maybe 36 days out of 365 that you could potentially fall pregnant (probably less)...assuming that you are actually having sex at the 'right' time...and not taking any medications, smoking, drinking...that affect fertility.
For couples with fertility problems, 30% of the time it's the man, 30% of the time it's the woman and the rest it is undetermined...even if he has poor swimmers, it lowers the odds but it doesn't make the odds 'zero'.

Otherwise google is your friend, just go direct, which is what I would do.

I know exactely when I ovulate.
My gyn told me to do progesterone (I thought it might be that because of other symptoms) and if it's good (it is) my hubby should do the semen analysis.
I think it's not the semen problem. I had PCOS still observed in USG. I think it's my hormonal problem. I was fighting with it for 11 years.
