May be you are possessed by a spirit? Have you ever consider seeing someone in regards to your dreams? A shrink may be? A friend of mine wakes up with blood on her pyjamas all the time, we thought it was the house as when she sleeps her bedroom turns icy but when she stayed at her boyfriend's place she still woke up with blood on her.

She lives in ireland, i'm from Dublin.

I hope you get to the bottom of it.

Good Luck
Dina
Thanks for you reply Dina25,

I can safely say that I am not posessed by a spirit. But thanks for putting those images into my head.

Cheers,

Carmen

Yep,

I guess I asked for it really. But thankfully there are some helpful replies too.

But if that story is in fact true I think the friend needs help more than I do. :-)

Hiya,
Yes I have tried many things. I have tried Nytol both herbal and the chemical one. I've taken valerian tablets from the chemist here too. But nothing seems to work.
What was the name of the drops that you tried?
I take Benocten to help me get to sleep. Otherwise I would lie awake all night.
I take two types of drops Simulaison Beruhigung and Simulaison
Schlafstörung. They help quite a bit.

Have you tried Zolpidem/Ambien?

It is a sleep drug with fewer side effects than the one you take.

I have not taken it personally, but I know many that have.

There are several vendors here in Switzerland.

The only spirit that might help carmengall is a shot of Whisky.

Seriously, when I was close to a burnout and had restless nights (3 hours of sleep or less) for weeks on end the doctor prescribed a herbal "Beruhigungsmittel" (sedative) called Hova. These tablets smelled awful but really helped calming me during the day, as well as helped me regain a good night's sleep.

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

Hi there,

I have checked with a friend of mine who used to work in a sleep lab in the Aargau. She said that whilst there are sleep labs all over the place the main centre in Switzerland is the clinic in Bad Zurzach.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

Zolpidem and Ambien, also known here as Stillnox, are not herbal but out of the lighter to middle-range of hard core sleep medication.

If you want to consider that dreams are not just something to get rid of but have some sort of central and inherent meaning, you may consider working with someone who has clinical experience and can interpret dreams. What about trying a psychotherapist who specializes in dream interpretation; here the better ones in Zurich are generally trained in Jungian psychology. Make sure they are well and long experienced in their field.

all the best

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

Thank you for the info Vera G. I would be very interested to see someone who can interpret my dreams. I once kept a diary of my nightmares. I was advised to do so by my sleep consultant in Ireland. In the beginning writing them down seemed to help to get them out of my head but the further I went with the nightmare diary the worse the nightmares got as they seemed more solid and real when they were written down. When I went to the hypnotherapist he told me to get rid of the diary. So I did.

But I have never met anybody who can interpret dreams and I really would have no idea how to find a psychotherapist who specialises in that kind of thing here.

What I need to be able to do is to gain control of my dreams. I can't do this very often as for some reason I doubt my ability in my dreams. But on the very rare occasion that I gain control it gives me so much confidence that I can fight the demons for the rest of the night. But it doesn't happen very often. Probably a handful of times in my entire lifetime.

I think once I can gain control that all this will finally stop. So I am open to any suggestions :-)

Given that all the clinical tests you have done and the results looked ok then I would suggest some more therapy. Having done some studies in this area and a good few years of New age navel gazing, I can say it does sound more psychological (albeit unconscious as it is coming out in your dreams, sleep problems seem to be a symptom rather than the cause). The problem then is to find the correct therapist in the field of study, this is not as easy as it sounds, there are a lot of snake oil salespeople out there claiming to be therapists regardless of what certificates hang on their walls. So your asking here is a brave move given the sceptical nature of some of our fellow Efrs. What I can say is "energy healing" in various forms can help IF (big if) the person doing is good and you are open to it. I am not saying it is for everyone and everything but I had some friends gifted in this area (in Australia) who achieved some amazing results. It would be worthwhile looking for a Craniosacral therapist here http://www.google.ch/url?sa=t&rct=j&...PzdgP-tGIoondg (they have to be qualified abe are recognised by most insurance companies after referal from a doctor), we found a great one here who helped both my sons with sleeping disorders (starting at 8 weeks old). Pm me if you want details.

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

Two professionals in Zurich, a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist who I am acquainted with, are Heike Weis, MD, and David Eldred, Ph.D. They both trained with the successors of C.G. Jung. H Weis is English speaking, D.Eldred orginally from the USA. Both are covered by Swiss medical insurance without referal from a doctor. Kind regards.

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

You can also contact directly the Counseling Center of the Jung Institute (here). If the doctors cannot find a physiological reason, then it might be worthwhile to give it a try.

When I read your post, I remember this article about nightmares published about 1year. You might want to give it a read to understand what might be happening to you (here, unfortunately, it is subscription only paper).

Re: Sleep clinics in Zurich?

Thanks Lucy sg, I have just sent an email to the Jung Institute so it will be interesting to see what they have to say. Thank you for the contact.

I will check out the link that you sent me for the article about nightmares. It looks very interesting.

Thanks again,

Carmen

I know this post was a year old, but I would be very curious how your therapy at Jung Inst. went? I live near there and have had sleep issues for much of my life.

thanks
