I think she was speaking about the blood-stains on the sheet...
Indeed I was talking about bloodstains on fabric, obviously. Not the wound itself.

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

For future reference, you have a 6 hour window in which you can have stitches done.
So you need to decide quickly and not wait and see.
Made the mistake with my daughter, once, I have now learnt.
BTW: I keep steri strips in the house. They are very good at keeping the sides of the wound together. If the bleeding continue through these then I would say a visit to the Doc is in order.

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

Update. The white sweater has been soaking with Handy in cold water---looks good there.

I've going to let the laundry service at my apartment deal with the sheets, best of luck to them.

I got lazy and didn't make it to the Drs unfortunately, bleeding finally stopped last night at some point, and the 'hole' heals over nicely, however I have started a bit of a freakshow side event of flexing the elbow and the tissue, or fat or whatver pops out the wound ala Han Solo slicing open a Tauntaun.

Doesn't look infected, and no pain at all, so I think things will be ok.

Thanks to all for the advice and support!

This is what I assumed with the stitches window. On that note, what was outcome of the mistake with your daugther? I really didn't have time to go deal with stitches, and since it's not infected, it doesn't seem like stitches woulda helped anyways

Dude - after last year's escapades you could have just told us straight that you can't play football, but I liked the story; you built it up and stuck with the plot all the way this time. Nice.

We'll keep you on the real team whilst you heal, but I'm dropping you from my fantasy CFL international 12 for this week, maybe someone will pick you up on waivers.

Get healthy again soon bud!

Why are you soaking your mobile phone? Can't be good for it.
Seriously, glad you're ok, apart from now having a weird freaky elbow!

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

Taking care of one's elbow wound, ick.
It really helps, though, being double jointed

Hope your healing is going alright. There are things you can buy in the pharmacy for re-epitalisation of your skin, so there isn't any major scar.

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

Hi,
Hydrogen Peroxide takes blood out of fabric. put some on, you will see it fizz. let it work a bit then cold damp cloth for blotting. don`t rub. repeat a few times if necessary.
I haven`t bought it here but would assume you could get it at a pharmacy.

I would get the wound properly assessed by a medical professional. There are nerves, blood vessels, tendons, and ligaments nearby that could`ve been damaged.

Plasma leakage is a sign of cellular damage. when you have a draining wound, you must make sure it is always clean and dry to prevent infection. you may need to change the dressing a few times a day until you can have it to open air. in the hospital, they normally clean wounds with saline solution. you could make this at home with boiling salt and water. if you have an infection or to prevent it, you could also soak your wound in it to help draw out the infection.

Tetanus shots are done every 10 years. make sure you are up to date with this.

take note if it gets hot, red, swollen or the discharge changes ie turning a different colour and tell your doctor.

assess it daily using a mirror if you cannot see it properly and look at the old dressing that you use for the colour, amount and consistency of the drainage in case it changes.

to decrease swelling, an anti inflammatory medication like asprin will help as well as elevating it on some pillows.

Hope you feel better soon

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

Just a little bored update. Sheet's came out relatively clean, white sweater as white as before .

Most of the bleeding has stopped, still a bit sore, but no signs of infection or limits of mobility. The 'tissue' has stayed inside, and the wound looks like it's pretty solid.

Here's a pic (not great quality, my cam has no macro setting) to see what I was originally dealing with:

Re: Bleeding elbow contusion

What are you going to do if there are complications and it doesn't get better? You haven't been to a doctor and it has not been reported to an insurance company, so nobody is going to pay for an operation to correct the damage.

Quote: the bleeding finally stopped last night at some point, and the 'hole' heals over nicely, however I have started a bit of a freakshow side event of flexing the elbow and the tissue, or fat or whatver pops out the wound ala Han Solo slicing open a Tauntaun.

You really should go to the doctor, it is an accident, treatment is free, there is no excess, nothing to pay. Stop being so brave!

That's my next beef. I bought a new phone on digitec and it still hasn't arrived. They keep giving me the "wait 2 days" deal and it's been 2 weeks.

As per the boobie comments, yes, it definitely does, and there's a few pics, if cropped properly, is very uncanny. (Although I hope most nipples are not normally bleeding :P). And on the topic of gore perhaps NSFL (life )

It definitely could have used a few stitches, but I'm pleased with how it turned out, and saved myself an afternoon wasted in emerg.

I'm fairly confident that everything is alright, full motion, have played a good 10 hours of hockey without discomfort, just feels a bit bruised at the moment. If issues get worse, I will seek professional medical attention, but after they messed up my shoulder so bad last year, I'm not very eagar.
