Do you mean a health visitor (as you say "following the midwife") ? If you do, then yes, they have the direct equivalent, although they do not start working with you so early as an health visitor does in the NHS (usually as soon as you are home with the baby) as you can opt to stay under midwife care for longer here (approx 2 weeks).

Re: help with baby ( Hebamme / Doula / Midwife )

Oh ok, you do mean health visitor. Its not such a comprehensive service here as in the UK, and they do not visit you at home, but it worked perfectly fine for me, and as mine was a second baby (like yours would be) you don't really need so much hand holding. We are in a small village and she visits once a month, but we get a timetable where she will be the other weeks so can visit her in another village if needed.

Also people go to their children's doctors more for things like the regular check ups and weigh ins (that's if you want, no one makes you do anything here really .. I used to get sent prefixed appointments in the UK for my first child, here its up to you to go if you want to).

Re: help with baby ( Hebamme / Doula / Midwife )

you can ask a doula to be your postpartum doula. Doula care ist payed privately here in CH. See here for the list where to find a doula (all are members of the Swiss Doula Assoc.)http://www.doula.ch/de/trouver-doula/liste-des-doulas/

And this is the information in english concerning doula care in CH http://www.doula.ch/uploads/Brochure_English_0811.pdf

all the best

They also have free drop in centres where you can call or take your baby every week to be weighed (if you want!) or to get advice from the health visitor once the midwife's home visits finish.

And you can call the nurse all week for advice, and if you would like she makes home visits too.
