Giving Birth in Basel/France?

Hi everyone

We are hoping to move from Ireland to one of the near villages to Basel in France near Basel airport in the New Year. I was just wondering what is the situation when getting pregnant whilst living in France. My husband will be working in Basel airport. We are going to have VHI global and we are in the process of trying for children. Can anyone give me any information on what to expect, would I be giving birth in Basel or France? Does VHI global cover all aspects of pregnancy? Bit daunting trying to figure it all out.....any help in this matter would be really appreciated

If you were to live in Switzerland it is compulsory to have Swiss Health insurance

according to VHI website, their level 1 does not cover giving birth or c-section and level 2 covers up to 3000 eur.

If you are planning to stay in France for the foreseeable future, you should probably get French insurance. Your husband can get the private frontalier insurance, either for France or both France/Switzerland (bit more expensive) and I think non-working family members can get it too, but maybe someone who has experience can confirm?
