Electromagnetic radiation is a field - in fact visible light is one form of electromagnetic radiation. Other forms behave in the same way, but with wavelengths too long or too short for our eyes to see. | | | | | Nice to see you back *waves frantically*
I also had family members trying to convince me about the power of crystals, including electromagnetic filtering and re-energizing of the power of water. Unfortunately not even the scientific approach seems to work to stop the nonsense |

| | Re: Crystals for electromagnetic pollution/smog | Quote: | | | | | Think about it - or better yet, go and try it. What happens if you place a dark object (i.e. a good visible-light-absorber) next to a visible-light source? The object will be dark but the rest of the room will still be lit up. If you want to actually protect yourself from visible light radiation, shielding either yourself or the light emitter is the only way.
It's the same for other electromagnetic fields. Shielding works, and it's the only thing that works.
Unfortunately what makes a good shield for one range of wavelengths won't be effective at all for another range. For example that's why visible light can pass through your microwave door but microwaves can't - why radio can pass through the walls of your house but light can't - and why X-rays can pass through soft tissue but not through bones or lead aprons. So you would have to decide what wavelengths you want to shield against and choose your shielding accordingly. Crystals that you "place near the fuse box" are utterly useless either way though. | | | | | It's totally irelevant of course, but light does not always travel in a straight line. There is refraction of course, but also gravitational fields can deflect light. So if your crystal is heavy enough it could deflect light rays and so prevent them reaching you even if it isn't located between you and the source. I wouldn't recommend trying that though as the mass required could (probably would) cause a black hole, and I wouldn't want to have to explain that to the insurance.

I can sort of understand the thinking. Crystals are so beautiful, so special, they must be good for something!
As indeed they are - good for making watches. | This user would like to thank MathNut for this useful post: | |

I would suggest hematite, sounds like there are plenty of places near you to be able to get it, if not there are lots of websites where it is available.
It helps to repel electronic smog & other negative influences in the area.
Do crystals work? Well I believe they do, and maybe because of that they work for me. Is it a placebo effect? I don't care. I keep a piece of hematite next to my pc, when i go to bed and i cant sleep I pop a piece of lapis under my pillow & when I know certain people are going to be in at work who really annoy me I keep a piece of ocean jasper in my pocket.
Is the lapis really helping to calm my mind and sort out my insomnia, who cares. I cant sleep cos im stressed out and brain is buzzing with lots of thoughts & idea, maybe having something to focus on helps to provide the peace my brain needs to chill out.
Does the ocean jasper instil patience, again who cares, those certain people dont annoy me half as much as they used to, which makes me a nicer person at work for everyone else.

thats always an option and previously I did tinker with the idea of pushing them down the stairs
and yes i do think it would work against all those options.
not heard swiss country music, can only imagine it is even worse that other types of that awful dirge

I have two crystals next to my bed, On the gf side ....if they make her happy then well I leave em there. One looks like kryptonite (sp?) so its pretty cool.
Dont believe they do a damned thing but hey whatever floats your boat.
