I'm all for random treats and things when it comes to teens but I'm not really a fan of monetary agreements for things that should be a given. I guess many teens won't understand it this way, but it's more a case that they should get good grades for the privilege of having someone (i.e. you) provide them with a roof over their head, clothes, food, guidance and love.

It's us kids who owe our parents. I owe my parents my life, so to speak. My home will always be their home and my house will always have a bedroom that is just for them. I could spend my life doing nice things for my mum and dad and it still wouldn't come close to all they have done for me. /mush

But I do understand how parents want to provide incentives and if it works for your family, then go for it. =)

Some kids would say they didn't ask to be born, it was the selfish desire of their parents...

In that case, I think you've got bigger issues than pocket money at hand.

I guess CHF 50-100 is reasonable. They can earn the rest by buying and selling dope like normal Swiss teenies. It's all about learning the pressures of the marketplace and push/pull economics.

True story. Kid in our town was busted at school (here in CH) aged 11 selling dope. I never followed her career, but I bet she landed on her feet (either in jail or at a bank).
