Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Since these drugs are expensive, what do you do with leftovers? It is sad to throw them.

This topic was brought up in a previous discussion - as somone had various IVF meds leftover and wanted to give/help someone else out that needed them due to the cost.
Some people were saying you should never provide medications not "prescribed" for you - which is a good point. And others were saying unless you have beenthrough IVF nad had to pay yourself then...

It is a good question. I have certainly been in the position where I needed ONE dose of a certain med and could NOT get it for 48 hours (where I lived) in CH! Therefore the whole situation was a huge stress (which should be reduced going through IVF anyway)...So I had to order it in Germany and drive 2hrs to get it otherwise that whole cycle would have been a waste. So I would definitely help someone else in such a position, if I had meds (in date/unopened/proved I went through IVF recently) left over.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

*Different countries often use different names for smae/similar product. Also depends on your specific protocol from the dr/clinic e.g. Gonal vs Menopur.

Here are some of the prices I paid from reciepts this year.

Switzerland:
1x Cetrotide 0.25mg - 84.10CHF
Gonal F pen 900iu - 515.85CHF

Germany:
1x Menogon HP 75ie/menopur equivalent 219.98€

Ovitrelle...?...sorry I can't find a receipt right now.

I would recommend calling/emailing a big pharmacy e.g. Pharmacy in Zurich haupt bahnhof - and asking for the prices of each med before you go so that you have an idea.

To check prices in Germany (Waldshut, not far from Zurich) you can email and ask for the prices e: mail@loewen-apotheke-wt.de
www.loewen-apotheke-wt.de

They were VERY helpful a few times when I couldn't get certain meds same day in CH.

Hope this helps.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

*I can't seem to EDIT my previous post. So Here is an UPDATE on some med costs.

Gonal F pen (300ie) x1 single dose = 186.41€
Previous price below was for 900ie.

Menogon HF 75ug was 219.29€ for 5 doses. In CH when I tried to get it they could only order packs of 10 (I only need 1 more dose).

Cetrotide 0,25 x1 single dose = 52.49€
Ovitrelle x1 single dose= 52.97€

*The pharmacy in DE can also give you a tax back form.
** They should always put certain of the above meds in cooler bags for transportation!

If I find any of the CH prices paid I will update if it helps with the decison to buy in CH or DE.

Good LUCK!

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Just found this thread - is there any experience for over-the-border clinics (DE/AT, mostly)? ca. 10k for a procedure seems pretty steep - in my home country we've been quoted less than that, but it's a long ride home, so I'd rather do this within a reasonable distance to Zürich.

Hi there
I found yesterday that my last ICSI was unsuccessful again ( this is my 5th) so I am literal into pieces... heartbreaking and just to figure out what to do next. I did 3 fresh transfer and one Frozen in UK and one in Spain. I have 35 years old, los ovarían reserve, unicorns uterus ( that I found couple of months ago) so is been a very long and painful Journey.
We are thinking about trying one last time and considering to do it here in Switzerland so I dont have to go back and forward.
I know laws had changed here and they are more open..
After being Reading a bit we are not sure if go to Dr Singer or GYN ART. I had a Conversation with DR Singer this morning and he seems to be really nice.
I Will appreciate any information about him or Gyn Art, also if someone can tell me roughly how much cost in total here...we had already spent lots of money.
This is an extremly painful Journey..... so if someone would like to do like a group maybe we can meet up sometime and be ourselves..
Thanks
Sorry to read about your struggle. Try contacting mafiv.ch, the lady running it helped some very desperate 'cases' including an acquaintance of mine.. sure she can give you some pointers. Good luck

Yes I just had my baby a year ago whit help from Wunschbaby Institut Feichtinger in Vienna, www.wunschbaby.at. i tried Bregenz before but no luck. I flew to Vienna 3 times and it was really worth it.

Prices are on their site and it depends what tests and medication is needed. It was 4500 euro just for the IVF procedure without any tests nor the medication needed which is specific to each person.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hi... I am obviously really happy... but if I had to compare the treatment here with the one I had in Spain there is no comparasion. The only different thing I did this time and that we thought made the difference is the ERA test that’s is actually a Test they have to send to IVI in Spain!!
The treatment is so diferente and the following I had in Spain was by far much better in Spain! Said that, sometimes is just about luck.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hi Freshstart,
So what is this ERA test? I have had 8 failed IVF/FET cycles over a period of 8 years. Visited several doctors here and abroad and no one knows why its not working.
I always have good number of eggs at retrieval, a good fertilization rate, the embryos always appear to be healthy and high quality(always beautiful blastocysts), the uterine lining always looks good, the transfer goes smoothly, but the pregnancy never “sticks.”
Turning 40 this year and cant go on anymore. However, i have never heard of ERA test and would like to know what that is.
Will very much appreciate.
Thanks

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hi BlackTee, looks like we're in the same boat. 3 FET failed, TTC 3 years.
It is unfortunate that my doctor never mentioned such tests and I learnt now on internet. Looks like ERA means Endometrial receptivity test. I think they take some tissue from your lining to see if embryo implants to it in the lab. I want to go abroad where they do pre genetic screening and investigate all possibilities why implantation never happens with me. I am now over 40 and just learnt that it is not allowed to do ivf in Switzerland after 42, and some other countries have this limitation too. I am a little disappointed with the treatments here.
Women who have unexplained infertility and who do IVF in other countries, would you please share some names? I looked at serumivf in Greece, but they don't even mention doctor names on their website, which is negative point for me.

Re: IVF information / clinics in Switzerland

Hello Nurb,
In Greece the age limit is 50(serumivf). I have had treatments there and can give you alot of info about the clinic. If you need more info just pm me.

I have done all kinds of immunological screening and they never found anything. I would like to try this ERA test. I wish there is an easy way to do the test without me travelling abroad for it, i would do it just to check. I have been to GynArt and Dr Singer and they never mentioned it to me. My last visit to GynArt the doctor told me to go and pray

If anyone know where i can go for this test please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
