Ecap kinderkrippe in oerlikon - anyone had experience?

I've just been invited to join a German course with childcare in Oerlikon (tramstrasse 6 is the addresse of the kinderkrippe) and have been to one lesson. The lesson was great and i'm very keen to learn, but I am feeling a little concerned about leaving my 2 yr old there as I'm not sure what checks there are here for people working in such places - and am not sure howto find out. When I left my child at daycare in England there seemed to be a lot more information for parents on procedures and parents had to be buzzed in and out by sight and sign both themselves and their child in/ out (not the case here).

Has anyone had experience of this kinderkrippe - good or bad. Please pm me if you'd prefer.

Lessons with childcare attached are the only option for me for learning German (I've tried self study and it's slow!).

Ecap, did you see anything to worry you and is the child care in the same building? It's rare in Switzerland for childcare places to have the kind of security you mentioned.

My daughter went there for quite a while. It was actually the first krippe she went to and she loved it.

It's in the building next door. I would be much happier if it was in the same building - I'm unsure whether the people working at the krippe can get from one to the other without going onto the street (as it's all a big tower block) I had to go down to the street along and up again.

Anyone else? Really appreciate the replies I've had.

Also - does anyone know what the requirements are for working somewhere like this (do they do a criminal background check?)?

I finnished in January my 5th German course at ECAP. My son stayed in the Kinderkrippe for the last 2,5 years and just he loved it! The staff is great! PM me if you want.
Cheers

Re: Ecap kinderkrippe in oerlikon - anyone had experience?

There are not any sign in/out security requirements in Switzerland. There is should be some sort of 'child proof' gate or door, but otherwise, it's very free here.

Switzerland is a small place, the fear of 'stranger danger' is not high. In fact, your child is far more likely to be stolen/kidnapped/abused by someone within their own family.

Is there a particular reason why you think someone might steal your child ?

Otherwise, no, Switzerland is normal, fairly safe, trusting. It's rather nice actually, my kids come home from school by themselves, and feel safe doing so.

Child protection checks don't exist the way they do in the UK, Australia or USA. Here, every person is known, work references are very important, and the fear of child abuse is realistic - the social systems can fall into place very quickly. But reality is that your child is far more at risk from their own parent than from their childcarer.

Hi, thanks for those who replied with their experience. The reason I asked is because in my experience 'asking around' is the best way to find out if a place has any problems & i felt that i owed it to my toddler to at least try!
