B permit and divorce

Anyone know what would happen if someone with a B permit sponsored by European marriage, and being a Non-European, were to separate or divorce? Would the non- European lose the B status automatically or would the duration of the permit remain valid?

Re: B permit and divorce

Technically speaking - would be "asked" out of the country.
Only if this "non-european" has a good job - then it's a big reason to stay in CH after divorce.

Re: B permit and divorce

well, there was a similar thread earlier in July i guess about the same situation but he was in the country for 4 yrs and so he could stay till he got his C permit (after 5 yrs) cause divorce laws now in switzerland grant it after 2 yrs if the parties are not agreeing.

i also know this after 3 yrs you can keep your B permit if you speak the language and with a good job. how long you are here ?

C permit (after 5 yrs)
yeah, of course it depends where you come from..
If the reason of your stay here is marriage - then it is usually 5 years in CH including at least 3 years of marriage with a swiss citizen.

You wait. If the Federal government also approves it you get your permit. If they don't, you don't.

It takes as long as it takes. Plus Christmas/New Year are with us so that will also delay things a bit. All you can do is wait.

You don't sound as if you were in a hurry to leave the country so why not let the federal enjoy their Christmas holidays?
