Child mystery fever....? ticks?

My daughter (3 3/4) had a fever for 48 hours, no other symptoms... except a slight headache. As the temperature did not get to 40 C and it was the weekend I didn't take her to the doctors or anything.
But now I've found out that we are in an endemic tick borne encephalitis area. Now.. I've not seen any ticks on her, but it's not like I strip her and search he with a fine-tooth comb everyday (wrong insect I know). Plus we have been running around in meadows... (well, they are sooo pretty).
My doctor doesn't work on Thursday afternoon, and I don't really now what I want to know. Except, could this be encephalitis? should I worry over the next couple of weeks in case she gets the second, bad, fever? Is there anyway to tell? If I vaccinate her for TBE ASAP would that make a difference?
I hope I am panicking for no reason (I tend to).

The TBE vaccine is not a therapeutic vaccine and so wouldn't offer any benefit if she had it at this time. I think it's always better to err on the side of safety and would suggest taking her to a doctor even if your regular one is not available today.

Re: Child mystery fever....? ticks?

Kids do get unexplained fevers with no other symptoms, both my kids have had this at times so try not to panic too much. If your daughter has had an infected tick bite then she probably would not have a fever as a symptom, when my son had his all he had was the red bullseye around the bite site. Keep any eye out for this, it is the classic sign of a bite, if you see it then a Dr's appointment ASAP is required for a course of antibiotics.

Ours too.

Our youngest has just had a fever for three days.

Keep them comfortable and hydrated.

We thought it might be three-day fever but there was no rash when the fever went down.

Re: Child mystery fever....? ticks?

She was sent home from nursery on Friday and on Sunday afternoon was fine. I just rode it, with liquids and fruit and the last of my UK calpol reserves and she's been fine since. No rash or anything.
Literally a 48 hour temperature, up to 39.5.
