Understanding label on baby car-capsule

Does anyone know what E1 stands for on the label on a baby car-capsule? I'm trying to ascertain whether or not the capsule I have is legal. after trying to sell it, One person wrote to me and said that E1 means it is now illegal while another wrote to me and said that lady is wrong and E1 simply means it was made inGermany! Any insight greatly appreciated.

Re: Understanding label on baby car-capsule

Hi Shelby

E1 is a sign of certification under United Nations Economic Commission for Europe which regulates vehicles design internationally. The particular product you are referring to has indeed been certified in Germany (which 1 stands for). For more information on this you might find this helpful:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_F...le_Regulations

As of 1.4. 2010, Swiss legislation requires the first 2 digits of the verification code on the ECE-label to be 03 or 04 (under the E1 sign). You can see an example of where to look on TCS website http://www.tcs.ch/de/test-sicherheit...sicherheit.php
(This is mostly in German, but English PDF is available for download if you scroll down).

Hope this helps & good luck with your sale :-)
