Year 10 schooling

Hello,

I have a 16 yr old that has struggled to find an apprenticeship this year (we started to look too late)

He attended international school until he was 16 and his French is now pretty good.

It was mentioned on a previous thread that he could register for something like a year 10, where he receives more schooling and help with looking at his future needs.

Today he went to the education office in vevey, they confirmed that such anything exists and to look on their website, we have looked and can not find anything.

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions on where we can find out more information for Vaud on this? Is it better to go to the education office in Lausanne?

Thank you for any suggestions.

It's probably the special name given to the 10th year (in Vaud) that you need to be able to search further. Not sure if this link might help your son further (his French is obviously better than mine!)

You'll find all the details on the homepage of the canton of Vaud:

I hope for you my hunch is not correct - but I'd say if places are limited, kids from the local state schools will have priority.

Yes - this is also our concern

The canton recommended that we return him to international school - even though we had a terrible experience with them

We are also looking at back up options of doing a year long french course - at the same time he will be doing more stage over the summer.

In july he can apply for his swiss passport - then if needed he will go to the uk for more education
