Zug (maybe Zurich) mountain boots for children

Hello

we need two pairs (twins) of boots for the forest day next week. My children use size 10 in the UK for shoes so I guess I need to look at a kids shoe shop? I am looking for good quality and comfortable ones.

Anywhere in Zug as it is the closest place with lots of shopping we have? I did some random walks during the last days but I haven't found any children's shoes shops.

Thank you very much.

I dont know where you were walking, one thing Zug does have is lots of shoe shops.

Your best bet is Ochsner Sport in the Metalli in Zug town center.

cheers

Re: Zug (maybe Zurich) mountain boots for children

You might want to like for hiking boots (Wanderschuhe in German) as they can use them for many things and they protect also the ankle.

Wanderschuhe also help with / against ticks. Make sure to watch for ticks (Zecke in German) once they get back as the region around Zurich / Zug is a region with many ticks. Nothing to be afraid of but when you wash them / they take a shower make sure to look out for ticks. They like the hollow of the knee and other spots.

If the children go to forest make sure they wear long trousers - even if it's hot! Buy light one but insist on long trousers. Jeans are not to good though.

You will find everything you might need for these outings at www.hajk.ch. They have a shop just next to the trainstation in Zurich and I can highly recommend it. It used to be run by the scouts and as I was a scout since I was 8 years old I spent a lot of my time in the forest. It's great to be outdoors but you need proper equipment. Shoes are especially important. Don't buy cheap ones! You can probably sell them secondhand once they grew out of it but you need proper shoes so that they won't twist their ankles.

Sorry for the long post hope it helps.

Re: Zug (maybe Zurich) mountain boots for children

Thank you so much for the replies!

This morning we were on our way to Ochsner Sport in the Metalli when we walked by a shop called Schuhhaus Walder and we managed to find everything in there: the "Wanderschuhe", socks for the "Wanderschuhe" and indoor sleepers "that don't fall down when dancing" (I remember a mum here mentioning this once!!). I have been amazed of how much choice there was for children and the good quality. The shop assistance was very professional and careful measuring my children's feet.

Thank you for the tips on the long trousers and the ticks!! I would have sent them in shorts if you wouldn't have told me. We have all the equipment -including clothing- for the forest. I just hope they don't bring many ticks back home
