Re: The "need" for a cigarette years after stoping.

My sister always says that no matter how strong the craving, the thing that keeps her from falling back into smoking is that she doesn't ever want to go through quitting again since 1 will lead to more which means you have to go through the dance of quitting all over again which is tough. Be strong.

Re: The "need" for a cigarette years after stoping.

It happened to my mom, she had stopped for a few years (not many around 4 or 5) and after an awful and stressful experience she really needed a cigarette (well, that is how she felt)...she did not give in...after some more years she could not even stand the smell of someone smoking or who had smoked...

Be strong!

Re: The "need" for a cigarette years after stoping.

I have been smoking since the age of 13, OMG 34 years! anyway, gave up about 7 years ago, and was doing OK for the first 5 days, or so I thought, ex wife ad my kids said I was like a bear with a sore head for all of those 5 days, so for the peace and tranquility gave up giving up after 5 days, been happier ever since
Sorry I know that input was slightly away from the OP but it is still about smoking, n craving etc. I have other cravings, especially since my divorce, but i'd better save those for another thread, or site

Well, I appreciate all the feedback, words of encouragement and even the trolling.

I guess I'll stick to wine instead!

But then, dont you find that when having a drink the craving is worse? especially on a summers evening, sitting outside with a nice glass of vino relaxing, you just need a good deep drag on a ciggy to make it perfect

Good luck combating the craving

Wine is a good idea.

If it was me, though, I would hit the crema catalana

Actually not. I never associated the drink with the cig.

The craving is passed for today. I saw many smokers and the smell stinks sooo bad! and lucky enough for me, always disliked the normal cigarettes. I would have a problem if more people would smoke mentol around me.

My craving is only for those, not regular ones.

Smoking seems to have thinned the forum smokers skin. Let me rephrase my previous sentence for thin skinned folks, all Non-smokers are idiots for not joining in the fun activity of puffing healthy lungs away

Like when England next win the footie World Cup. You'll have quit for life then.

Cheers,

If you really want a few cigarettes then associate it with doing something you don't do often, e.g. when Spain are playing football in a EM or world cup match. Then you can associate it with that rather than a situation you will be in every week...
