Znunitaschl, Finken???

Hello, we just moved here and although I get the gist of most info, I am puzzled by this in the letter we received today about the kindergarten my daughter will be attending in August. It says: Mitnehmen: Znunitaschl, Finken - I understand it is some kind of bag...but could somebody please explain? Thanks a lot!

Znünitäschli is a little backpack for your child to carry her 10 o'clock snack in (morning snack = Znüni, afternoon snack = Zvieri). I'd recommend getting her a small lunch box to put in the bag.

Finken is the Swiss-German term for house shoes/slippers. Kids in kindergarten and primary school normally are in the same classroom the whole day, and to keep the floors clean(er), they wear slippers.

Hope this helps

Re: Znunitaschl, Finken???

No worries, I still remember getting the same kindergarten letter years ago and finding half the words weren't in the dictionary...

Three cheers for EF
