Where to travel when pregnant?

Does anyone have any experience with traveling outside Europe when pregnant? We plan to go on holidays in the first two weeks of October, I will be 15 weeks then. My pregnancy is ok so far, of course I suffer from nausea, but I'm just back from a week vacation in Almunecar (40 C) and must say it's been way better there! I have an additional travel insurance covering all the expenses abroad incl. these related to the pregnancy. My OB/GYN says it's fine as long as I take an injection agains thrombosis before the flight. I have never suffered from diahorrea nor did I have any other medical problems when travelling (Venezuela, Sri Lanka, Egypt ect.). I am very heat resistant and thanks to my venezuelan roots my skin does not burn. Any ideas which places should be fine to go? We consider Cuba, Thailand or UAE but are open to other countries as well (except those with a risk of malaria). Thanks a lot for all advices!

Why not just go to the South of France or Spain, the Balearics or Canaries. Not too far and with excellent health services, just in case.

Re: Where to travel when pregnant?

The thing is it's gonna be our last trip before the baby is born and we would like to make it special. As we both love travelling, we are pretty sure we will travel with the baby as soon as possible and we consider that time to be the best to explore Europe with a car or any destination available with a short-distance flight. Spain's been wonderful, though As to the health services, Thailand is considerd to be pretty good, I'm still enquiering about Cuba. Seychelles sound wonderful, but is's just a bit too expensive for us now :/

Re: Where to travel when pregnant?

Go where you want and enjoy it. I travelled to Australia and New Zealand when I was 6.5 months pregnant with a stop off on the way back in Singapore (holiday booked before we found out and family wedding to attend in Australia). I did find the flights a bit tough (especially those injections my partner gave me before the flights ) but as long as you are having an easy pregnancy and make sure you take time out on holiday for plenty of R and R, then the world is your oyster....

Travel anywhere. At your stage it's fine. I went to Crete when I was 20 weeks. It was great :-)

Re: Where to travel when pregnant?

I think you'll be fine traveling at only 15 weeks into pregnancy, so you can probably go wherever you want. I do suggest, though, that you go somewhere that has clean, safe drinking water. And before you go, I would research the nearest hospitals (just in case) and be sure to bring with you any medications you might want (e.g. antacids, something for nausea, etc.) since the same meds probably won't be available there and you may not be able to read the labels or directions, etc.
