Hi,

Read an article recently about the benefits that ayurvedic medicine can bring and it gave me a big desire for trying to learn more about it first-hand. So basically, I'm searching for a good place/center versed on ayurveda.
Since I live near Lausanne if the place is on the French part of Swiss the better

When I said to learn, I didn't mean to study ayurveda. But more to follow a program/treatment with an ayurvedic doctor.

Re: Ayurveda centers in the french part of Switzerland

There are lots of good spas in Romandie - many offer Ayurveda.

The nearest to you are either Yverdon, or Lavey les Bains, near Aigle. You also have Ovronnaz up over the spa of Saillon (not far from Sion), Val d'Illiez (on the way to Champery) and further down the Rhone Valley and up over Sierre, Loèche-les-Bains aka leukerbad on the linguistic border.

Many have special offers from October onwards in low-season.

Re: Ayurveda centers in the french part of Switzerland

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm searching not a spa that does ayurveda but a proper ayurvedic center that does consultations. I want to do a series of treatments but with the guidance of an ayurvedic specialist.

Re: Ayurveda centers in the french part of Switzerland

Most Ayurvedic therapies, such as pranayama and rasayana, are unlikely to have bad side effects. Ayurvedic herbs, however, may interact with medications, and like all herbs, they are not right for every person so be careful before you embark on anything - even speak to your doctor first especially if you take medicines or have to eat a special diet (for diabetes for example) and make sure you tell the Ayurvedic practitioner about all drugs and other supplements you are taking. In addition, harmful levels of arsenic, lead and mercury have been found in some Ayurvedic herb supplements so again make sure you choose good quality supplements.

Re: Ayurveda centers in the french part of Switzerland

Thanks for the tip Phygelius. I'll keep it in mind if the spot I end up going to advices me to take medications.
That makes me even more to want to go to a true ayurvedic center where they should know all these things.

I can advice you a great place in Rolle. It's called Elaneha and this center is quite competent on ayurvedic medicine. Go there regularly myself
Nice decor, pleasant therapists. I'm sure you'll like it.

Re: Ayurveda centers in the french part of Switzerland

Thanks for the tip Thyeran, checked out the spot you proposed and it was just the sort of ayurvedic center that I was looking for. Started an ayurvedic program there and I'm quite pleased with the results and with their professionalism.
I was amazed with all the knowledge ayurveda gave me about my own tastes and habits and also the scope and the positive contribution this medicine had on me.

For me, having more knowledge about oneself is already very good and precious.

Thanks again for all the info and sharing.
