Maternity leave geneva law applicable to expats?

I am a woman who was transferred to Geneva on an expat contract a year and a half ago. Although I am on a US based contract, I am eligible for annual leave based on swiss law (I get 27 days vs. the 20 days I would have had in the US) so when I was recently told that my maternity leave would be US based (12 weeks instead of Geneva's 16 weeks) it sounded a little unfair as I had been expecting maternity leave to be covered by the same federal law that annual leave is covered by.

Doe anyone have experience with maternity leave on a US Based expat contract? specifically, for maternity leave would it be the federal rule that applies or the US rule?
