portable versus mini washing machine

I'm reposting this question on this board in hopes that I'd get some parental wisdom.

We're about to have our first baby and want to get a portable or mini washing machine to supplement our once a week access to the building's laundry room. We are allowed to have our own machine in the apartment.

Does anyone have a suggestion for getting a portable (around 2 kilo capacity) versus a mini (up to 4 kilo, I believe)? Any brand recommendations? I'm mostly worried about things like the baby's spit up or, ahem, leaky diapers....things I'd want to get washed right away without looking around the house for enough to fill up a medium sized load. Or should I expect a baby to be able to fill up a load a day on his/her own?

Thanks in advance!

Re: portable versus mini washing machine

Not sure what a portable washing machine is tbh. We had a half-size one and that wasn't portable!

Get the biggest you can as you may have to do sheets and blankets too. You can always add a couple of pieces of adult clothing if you need to make a wash up.

I would just get a normal washing machine, then you can use it for all your laundry.

Re: portable versus mini washing machine

We considered getting a full sized washing machine but we just don't have the space! We don't mind doing sheets and adult clothes once a week in the communal machine.

When I look up mini lave linge on amazon.fr, this is a selection of the machines that come up.

It looks like the portable ones mostly wash around 1 kilo, and are the kind of thing you could put on a counter top or take on vacation. They also tend to be under 1000 euros. I'm concerned though, that they might be weak, little more than glorified salad spinners.

The mini washing machines that look more like regular washing machines cost almost as much as the full size.

Re: portable versus mini washing machine

You need the "Wonder Wash".

Washes up to 5lb/2kg+ using pressure and less water than hand washing and spins - all in a matter of minutes ..... all for less than $45.

Try one today; buy one tomorrow.

Less than €65 at Amazon.de
