International School Schaffhausen

Hi

I'll be moving with my family to Schaffhausen in Aug 2013. My two kids will be secondary school age. I am considering enrolling them in the International Schools of Schaffhausen. There's a certain amount of information available on the internet on the school but I can't find much in the way of personal comments or reviews.

I have a few questions:

The first is that, looking at the school on Google Earth it seems to be situated near some kind of industrial area. Is that really the case? is it an issue? OK I know i need to set up a visit, but that will be in a couple of months and, hey, I'm curious.

Second question is on class sizes. It's a small school. 200 kids in total including secondary (i think). Are there enough children to divide up into year groups or do they have mixed ages in a class? Would there be enough kids of their own age to mix with?

Lastly, what's the standard of education like? I can't find any published results. Difficult to tell.

Grateful for your feedback.

Thanks

Re: International School Schaffhausen

According to the school's website, they just recently added their IB diploma program and it is not clear if they had students taking the exams this past May or not. As a result, the secondary school doesn't really have a track record yet for judging the standard of education. I suggest asking a lot of questions about the Diploma Program Coordinator's and the teachers' previous experience with the IB program.

They do have enough students in the IB program to form small classes, but it's true that the secondary school is relatively small compared to the other programs of ISSH. It's school holidays now, but you could simply write them an email after the 22nd.
